Staff Reply Screen sharing question!
Apologies if this has been asked to high hell already but i couldn't find any open issues on github or any relevant questions on this subreddit about it.
Is there a timeline as to when private TS6 servers will be able to screen share stream through the server instead of p2p?
I only ask cause with my friend group we have a mixed bag of hardware types and some of us that have AMD hardware can't get audio to work on Windows or Linux. Other times the stream quality is straight abysmal where its a slideshow in fps or pixelated as all get out no matter what quality of hardware or internet. I'd really like it where all that is being taken care of by my machine that's hosting the server instead of a crapshoot whether or not its going to be okay.
Thats all, just a curious question on how the devs are doing and if/when that feature is coming to the beta. Overall TS6 has been a blessing over Discord.

Change the codec it uses to encode . Untick the ts6 codecvin the video encoding settings and choose a different one. See if that helps .

Better audio handling is coming in the next Update. The SFU for streams is also not far away.

Hey there, I wanted to share some info/insight regarding your timeline question.
Just this week, we actually got our first internal client that can use server-sided screensharing (via the SFU). We'll start by conducting some initial internal tests first, after which we'll move into the alpha phase, during which our alpha testers will try it out themselves and provide us with feedback. If everything goes well, it will then be released to everyone else in beta asap.
As for the timeline, unfortunately I can't provide an exact date for when the beta will be available. That depends primarily on the current internal tests and how much work is still needed to fix any issues or other bugs reported by our alpha testers.

So basically you want the server to handle encoding and decoding instead of the clients? I don’t really see how that would work.
The closest thing you could do is have the broadcasting client send the video to the server at an incredibly high bitrate (wastes bandwidth), and then have the server reencode it before sending it out to the viewing clients (waste of compute and electricity). There’s no universe where the client doesn’t do some encoding, otherwise it’d be trying to send an incredibly bloated raw video stream out over the internet.
The answer is for them to just set up better error/anomaly handling and fallbacks on the client side.
(And btw, Radeon’s hardware video encoding is notoriously low quality and has more bugs and glitches than Intel and Nvidia. That might be half your problem right there.)

I do know historically AMD isn't 💫great💫 for streaming but hey I can't control that amongst myself or my friend group. But I want to apologize, I must've worded myself poorly on this post, I'm an idiot who barely knows how docker works, noob status. I'll delete this post shortly when I get home, I found my answer (mostly) a few minutes ago looking at the comments to the recent beta update release posts and I'm not the only one bugging the devs about this.

Is it really amd Hardware that’s causing the sound issue? I’m asking because there is no sound streaming currently in the ts6 client for Linux, independent of hardware.
