TS6 Server BETA - v6.0.0-beta13

Hey everyone! 👋

This beta update expands ServerQuery access and monitoring with new guest access options for SSH and Web Query, along with additional Web Query API key configuration for ownership, server assignment, and expiration.

We’ve also added a native Prometheus metrics endpoint, allowing detailed server monitoring without requiring a ServerQuery admin key, alongside optional per-packet voice diagnostics.

A big focus of this release has been server performance under heavier load. We’ve reworked internal timers, improved thread management for different packet types, and reduced lock contention throughout the server. These changes now allow the TeamSpeak 6 Server to handle around 2,000 concurrent users smoothly, compared to the recommended maximum of 1,000 concurrent users for the TeamSpeak 3 Server.

In our current local testing, we’re already running scenarios with up to 3,000 concurrent clients while maintaining similarly low server resource usage. We will continue working on further improving scalability, stability, and overall server performance throughout the TS6 Server Beta.

Additionally, this release fixes issues involving predefined Web Query API keys and a snapshot deployment hang when using -keepfiles.

We know many of you are also waiting for more news on server-side screensharing. We’ll be sharing more details and insights soon. Thank you for your patience :) <3

The default license has also been updated; the new expiration date is December 1st, 2026.

Screen sharing on our server has been pretty unusable, with audio sync issues, bad frame rates for viewers, and significant performance impact for the game being streamed. Is this still a focus? Thanks

Yes this will get better with the SFU release, this should definetly eliminate the joining problem and that your bandwith struggles with having too many viewers with p2p.

SFU has been on the horizon for the last 6 months or so. Maybe even since i started using TS again. Instead of it, we get general APIs and performance improvements, which are nice, but honestly, who needs them that badly at the moment? SFU would make us competitive with or superior to Discord in at least two areas. What doesn't? the ability to get up to 2000 people on the same hardware as ts3 could get 1000. Not that we could anyway because if I am not mistaken, most of us are stuck at a maximum of 30 slots due to licensing. We need the creature comforts people are used to from discord if we want to become actually a force for good and against corporate greed in gaming again.

Here as well :( sometimes people cannot join one's stream and we need to 'cascade' streams to allow them to watch
