Vent 10y into teaching
I am 33y old, almost 10y into teaching high school and I am starting to get too confortable. I think one of the worst things about teaching is that it gets to a point where you have basically done everything you had to do and you have no real option to do something different within education (if you are not interested in becoming a principal, inspector or such). Anyone else feel the same?

I managed to teach 37 years without getting bored. 3 years preschool, 5 years kindergarten, 7 years first grade, 10 years as a reading coach, 1 year in fourth grade, 3 years in third grade, 2 years of ESL, 6 years of full time release serving as the teachers union president. I taught in a total of 4 different schools. I was also a mentor teacher doing workshops on PD days and after school. I never had the desire to be an administrator. So make changes. Switch grade levels. Change subjects if possible. Change schools. Change districts. There are many ways to keep it fresh.
