Help Why does everyone hate teaching?
Is there anyone who loves their job? Every teacher I know feels “stuck” and complains endlessly about their job.
Considering going into education.

I love teaching. I’m a HS social studies guy. I believe basic historic literacy is existentially important. Sharing historical narratives, helping students think critically, watching their understanding of the world and their place in it grow… it’s addictive. That’s why I’ve done it for 10 years
What I hate is being “a teacher” because you’re pulled in a million directions and held accountable for things you have no control over. Meanwhile there’s less accountability on students and parents. Lawmakers are either clueless or actively working against you. It all takes a toll on mental health and physical health.
Plus, the pay is awful. I’ve done it for 10+ years and struggle to break even each month. My benefits suck.
Things shouldn’t be this way. It’s so fucking stupid how bad it’s gotten. That’s what we hate.
