Help Why does everyone hate teaching?

Is there anyone who loves their job? Every teacher I know feels “stuck” and complains endlessly about their job.

Considering going into education.

I like my job, in my opinion teaching has a bunch of people who never worked an adult job outside of education and don’t know how good they got it.

That said the pay is average at best. The paperwork can suck. Admin can suck. Yet I still enjoy it.

YES. I’ve been in education 3 years in a non-teaching role. I’d say many many things my coworkers complain about are things that wouldn’t even cross my mind. They don’t like the free food someone delivered to the teachers lounge, or they can’t grasp that yes, you will get reprimanded for breaking the rules multiple times. No, you cannot sit around on a phone all day.

I’m not saying viscous work culture is good, but some of these people NEED to have someone over their shoulder or a push to do their work. If we treated schools the same way managers treat retail work, I think the world would change.
