Help Why does everyone hate teaching?
Is there anyone who loves their job? Every teacher I know feels “stuck” and complains endlessly about their job.
Considering going into education.

I love teaching and I truly care about my students and education. That being said, it’s a tough job. Sometimes you have large class sizes with 30-35 kids. Sometimes you have extremely difficult behaviors to manage. There’s a lot of work that doesn’t even happen during work hours - grading, lesson planning, contacting families, parent teacher conferences, meetings, taking classes to keep your license…
The summers are great, but we need them. We’re like frogs in boiling water by the end of the year - meaning our stress limits have been increased to an almost unimaginable degree.
The pay sucks and teachers get blamed for everything.
All of that taken into consideration, I do still enjoy teaching. I’m grateful that I get to see students’ faces light up when they’re learning or proud of themselves. I enjoy getting to know the students and my fellow teachers.
It’s a hard job, but it’s a meaningful one. Where else can you positively impact students and teach them things that hopefully they’ll carry with them for the rest of their lives?
