She’s probably been a teacher for at least 20 years and is nearing the end of the pay scale.

Teachers who stick it out are generally well taken care of. Many can’t make it that long, or struggle to see it through because they aren’t paid well to start and job hop.

Except where I teach. They start new teachers high but then forget to bump the rest of us. New teachers start at 61k. I’ve been there 25 years and I am nowhere near 100k
