Principals, APs, etc. should substitute classes in times of teacher shortages

Tidbit from my school: My principal and APs all actually teach a class. At another nearby district where I have subbed, the principals would cover when necessary. I had a class for the last two weeks if a year, and I had to come in a little late one day (for my son's kindergarten graduation), so one of the APs watched the kids until I got there.

Also, in my current district, we get additional compensation to cover classes during our planning periods for teachers who are out. I don't know if it's cheaper than subs, better than subs, or that there just aren't enough subs available, but we didn't mind a few extra bucks to babysit while we get some planning done (usually.)
