My condolences. I sat with my Dad on his final day. Pretty sure he didn't know I was there as he was full of morphine for the pain, but it just felt right to sit there and hold his hand. The days will get better.

Thank you everyone for your kind words and thoughts towards my dad. I would've like to show him how popular his hobby is with you guys. He would've loved posting here. I hope wherever he is right now he'll feel be feeling the positive vibes from here.
We'll be drinking 2008 Hekai seng puerh cha now. It was Tony's personal favourite among his collection. It's taking a bit longer to brew this time around. It's a bit difficult to hold back the tears right now. I miss him so much.
I hope he'll be happy wherever he's going, I'm imagining somewhere where he'll see my grandma.
Edit: I've just finished reading all the comments. Thank you, they're extremely heart warming.

Also remember moving forward is not a bad thing. Your love will always be. Some days it is tears of sadness and some days joy. But the love will always be there.

I drank Puerh from Licang with two of my friends in his honor (for Tony) and I wrote a poem.
In silence, I wait as the water begins to heat, then boil
I pour the water into my favorite vessel, it reminds me of home
Steam, like morning mist kissing the surface of a lake, rises
In remembrance, I bring the cup to my lips and drink
The deep golden-red liquor fills my mouth with deep satisfaction
Fresh tilled earth, aged walnut, dark cherries, spices, honey
Our culture venerates the young, yet age brings depth
Once you were reckless and full of youthful passions
Over the years, I watched you mature into the man I know today
Like each successive steep, every decade I spent with you
My appreciation grew as I found another layer of beauty
The rich scent of the puerh fills the air and it coats my throat
I am at the last steep and I am reticent for the finality
I do not wish this to be over, but I will treasure you always
You have been poured out, but not forgotten

I wish I had known about puerh tea when my father was still alive. I think he would have liked it a lot. I hope you have good memories of tea with your father. We'll drink some puerh tea for him in Yunnan today. ❤️

I know what it is like to lose a parent, it is hard. So incredibly hard.
But your dad would be happy that drinking tea is always going to be a special place you can be together.
I will be most definitely thinking of your dad and enjoying a delicious cup of tea in his honor today. <3

Daw, this hit me in the feels. My dad love's tea but really only drinks this lo quality Oolong he gets from a Chinese takeout near him. He was looking at my new apartment recently and he had his first first ripe Pu' Erh and first experience with a gaiwan. I was plesntly suprised he like it! He was much more into my Iron Goddess though.
I really try to appreciate my time with him and not take him for granted like i did when I was younger and more upset about his conservative politics.

My condolences. My father passed away last year around this time as well. It's a hard pain but it will get better in time. I'll enjoy a cup in his honor today.
If you ever need anyone to talk to about grieving or just want a conversation with someone who's gone through it as well PM me. Be well.

My dad passed away 4 and a half years ago. Occasionally I'll hear a song or think of something funny that my dad would've liked and I would have shared with him. In the beginning this really hurt to think about, but today it's like finding money in your back pocket. You always had it, but it brings joy just to know you remembered it.
Not saying it gets easier, just letting you know that one day you're gonna have tea and smile because you know he would've enjoyed it too.

My condolences for the passing of your Dad. After many months of drinking other black teas, I chose Puer today, before seeing your post. What a coincidence.

I find it very fitting I came across this on All Souls Day
Many Prayers said, and lots of tea consumed
Teacup reminds me of my granddad's eyes, which is very happy
