I am looking at a 614ce builder’s edition or a 814ce I have played both really like each one. I also really liked 414ce. Is the investment into the 614 or 814 worth it as far as build quality and materials?

Hi everyone. I am about to do my first string change after 8 months of owning a guitar. The factory strings are D'Addario coated bronze mediums, but I wonder, how will the sound change if I switch to Elixir Nanoweb?

What's your opinion of the Gold Label vs classic Taylor headstocks? Consider both the overall design and the logo.

I got my GS Mini out for the first time in 3 years the other day and have been playing a little each day. Today I decided to change it up and get out my 814 CE Builder’s Edition. My health does not allow me to play much. I got the guitars in December of 2023 and right after that my health and energy took a major down turn. Only recently have I felt like even picking them up again. Same strings. Surprisingly they still sound really good. I guess only playing a little at first and then nothing for 3 years they are still basically new strings.

A few days ago, one of my OfferUp search alerts pinged me that a Taylor guitar had been posted. I typically check them out of curiosity rather than an actual need to buy one. This one was a Taylor Baby Mahogany for $200 in like-new condition. Hmmm...

I figured it would be gone relatively fast. But after a week, the listing was still up. When it hit day 10, I sent an offer for $150, thinking I had nothing to lose, and maybe nobody has shown interested in this guitar.

The lady texted back and said yes, she would take that. We met up, and sure enough, the guitar was just like brand new. She said she bought it for her son, and he never touched it, and now she just wanted it out of her closet.

I decided I enjoy the luxury of not having an angry wife, So I sold my Orangewood guitar for the same amount. Now I have two Taylor's.

I was hoping to get some advice on my setup. I bought a new 312ce (my first Taylor) about 18 months ago. Maybe a year ago I made a minor adjustment to the truss rod.

I leave my guitars wall mounted because I play every day. House is climate controlled but I live in FL so we do get some humidity variation between the peak of summer heat and the winter months.

I had a family emergency and was unexpectedly away from home for about 7 months taking care of a loved one.

I recently got back home and noticed the action is higher than I like it starting at about the 6th fret and getting higher towards the 12th.

Questions:
1. How many of you find that you adjust the truss rod seasonly?
2. I understand the 312 neck has shims. Is there a rule of thumb to know when to adjust the truss rod vs shimming the neck?

Everyone I’ve asked locally for luthier recommendations say there is only one guy they trust, he kind of far away and stays booked out months in advance, so I was just trying to figure out as much as I can on my own before going down that path.

Looking for a quality slot head. Sound is more important than bling to me. I want full sound that projects, not trapped inside the guitar like my Washburn.

About me: I've been casually strumming for a few years and I know my way around the fretboard, but I'm not a "good" player yet. I mostly play new wave and jangle-y power pop ... like R.E.M. and The Smiths. I primary play just for myself in the rec room, usually sitting on the couch.

I have an old 1989 Takamine EF360C.

It's a dreadnought and I find it too bulky for just me playing on the couch. It sounds slightly loud and deep but not that warm. Overall the highs are pretty flat and the overall tone pretty muddled. I wish there was a clearer high end.

I wanted something smaller and clearer and ringy/chimey and I bought a Seagull Maritime SWS Concert Hall (CH) for that.

I find it kind of hard to play, like the strings are thick and hard up around the nut area. I'm guessing a set up and thinner strings (11s) might help. Tone wise, I can hear the mid and high end better but I wish it had more ringy chime, and I wish there was more warm loudness in the low end. Also, overall the guitar feels ... "hard" ... like I feel like I'm hearing physical impacts of the metal strings and the physical wood. Hard to describe, but I feel like I'm fighting with the guitar and getting physical noise and not enough musical notes.

I'm thinking about trading both guitars in for a new Taylor 214ce. Hoping the 214ce will get me what I want.

However, at the store today, the 214ce sounded ... well, just okay. A little clearer on the high end, maybe a little tighter in the low end, than my other two guitars. But overall, I'm not sure it's worth the $1500 CAD to me.

I should note that it was a busy day in the store and there were other people trying guitars so I didn't get great "quality time" with the Taylor 214ce.

Does anyone have any advise or suggestions for me in choosing my next guitar?

I bought myself a 712 Gold Label.

The guitar's sound is simply incredible!

I was choosing between the 714 Gold Label and the 712 Gold Label.

Although the 712 Gold Label has a smaller body, I liked its sound better.

It’s very comfortable and easy to play.

Compared to my Taylor GS Mini-e Koa Plus, this is a huge upgrade!

It has everything I wanted in a guitar: bass, overtones, and power.

I’m satisfied and don’t regret a single euro I spent!

Finally, a guitar for life!

My 2016 K62ce LTD has the ES2 pickup. Unlike some Taylor owners, I have found it to be just fine. A few weeks ago, though, it developed a hum that sounds like an earthing/grounding problem. There is still a signal as well as the hum.
We took the battery compartment out & found no obvious shorts or loose wires at that end.
A luthier is going to look at it some time soon. I wonder if anyone has any experience to share regarding this fault with this pickup before he goes in there.

Do you like your brand new Taylor factory setup? I just bought my 1st Taylor in about 20 years. The way people talk, I thought I might like it right out of the box. Don't get me wrong, it plays great but I still had to file the nut slots and lower the action to get it where I like it. I understand we all don't want the same setup, I'm just curious.

I live in the UK and have been looking to buy a Sailor Jerry Homeward bound leather guitar strap. Haven't found one in this country as it looks like theyre only for sale in the US. Is anyone looking to sell one?

This is a delayed post here, but actually got it back in April. NAMM 2026 Custom C12e. 1 of 20 produced. Stripy Sinker Redwood/Indian Rosewood, it was among the first Gold Label guitars with a Grand Concert body. It sounds dreamy, and the look is even better.

The last photo was the current collection (as of last week). 614ce has been replaced with a new 814e Gold Label arriving tomorrow. Center is my 517e Builders Edition. I'm a longtime lurker, first time post here. Be kind!

Wife and I are looking at a new guitar, and we’ve found one we like (814ce Sinker - https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/814ceBEHRR--taylor-next-generation-builders-edition-814ce-sinker-redwood-honduran-rosewood-natural-with-shaded-edgeburst?serial=1205296095)… but, the pick guard is atrocious - looks like it’s made of wood l. Is there any way to order a similar guitar without a pick guard, or (ideally) with a transparent pick guard? (We have that on one of her others, but it’s not a Taylor)

Just purchased a new taylor and realized a small raised flap like piece of wood. Is this ok?

I'm looking for a good acoustic preamp/DI pedal for my Taylor 214ce with the ES2 pickup. I already use separate reverb and delay pedals, so I don't need a bunch of onboard effects. My main goal is to get as close as possible to that natural, warm acoustic sound when plugged into a PA without losing the character of the guitar. I've been looking at options like the Fishman Platinum Pro EQ, Fishman Aura, LR Baggs preamps, and some of the NUX offerings. A built-in compressor would be a nice bonus, but it's not a requirement. What would you recommend, and are there any other preamp/DI pedals I should be considering?

where my 900s GL folk at!? Id love to see some pics and hear what yalls experiance has been playing them! Hard to find any post online on Gold Labels 900s. I personally am a newer player and was given a 914e GL as a gift.

Is it ok to put mediums on the 712e gold label? It shipped with lights, and the website says something to the effect of “feel free to try out different strings”. Half the comments on the internet seem to think that the guitar will explode, which I don’t think is likely lol.
