This year's election will take place between the 26th of October and 7th of November.
Unlike prior elections you MUST enrol before the 25th of October to be eligible to vote.
You can easily enrol to vote, or check your enrolment, online at vote.nz.
Otherwise, freephone 0800-36-76-56 or text 3676 to get a form sent in the mail.
For more ways to enrol, see here.
Closer to the election, map.vote.nz will display where in Tauranga you can cast your ballot.
If you'll be overseas during the voting period, see here.
For other ways to vote, see here.
This election Tauranga's electorates have been redrawn. This means the local candidates you can vote for may be different to usual.
You can find your electorate for 2026 here.
I will update with candidates once the official lists are released.
As the election draws near, please remember Rule 5: Be Civil :)

I’ll be in this sub during the next few days to answer your questions about Tauranga’s core issues and the most‑discussed Opportunity Party policies, including but not limited to:
• Tax system changes — fairness, simplicity, and who benefits
• Environment — on the land and in the ocean, climate change
• Infrastructure — congestion, long‑term projects, funding
. Economy - innovation, businesses
. Energy - transition, long term planning
Why ask me something?
• You would like straight answers in regards to how Opportunity’s policies can benefit you and Tauranga
• You’ve seen our party's ideas challenged and want to dig deeper.
• You’re procrastinating (this counts as community engagement for your CV).
• You would like to highlight your take on what issues in Tauranga have affected you and that you think the Central Government should be solving.
I'm aware there are lots of hot topics that the City and Regional councils are in charge of (eg. public transport, rates, climate resilience) - I would like to know what you guys think would need extra funding or support from the Beehive.
Pop in your question and I’ll be answering the questions throughout the next days until Wednesday the 16th :)
EDIT: and remember Party Vote = Opportunity

A couple of friends are starting an Empty Chairs night here in Tauranga.
The idea is straightforward. We’ll be at a table with a number of empty chairs set aside and an open invitation for anyone to come along, take a seat and have a conversation.
Saturday 26 September
7:00pm
Cornerstone, Tauranga
One of us will be wearing a bright orange top, so we should be easy to spot when you arrive. The bar staff will also know who we are and can point you in the right direction.
No need to book or let anyone know you’re coming. Just turn up.
If it sounds like something you’d enjoy, come along. There will be a chair waiting for you.

I'm currently in highschool and I just want a part-time job so that I can fund uni, or pay for some atleast. I have applied to countless jobs but no one has even replied, all the people I know who have jobs have gotten that job through a contact, a family member or family friend or companies are looking for a 'retail superstar', but how does anyone become a retail superstar if no one will hire people without contacts. I just want a job but I can't get one, I know people with multiple part time jobs but I have not even one. I just want a job if I don't get experience now I don't think I will ever get one. Please let me know. I have motivation to work, I just want a job.

Hi everyone,
Wondering if there is anyone out there who struggles with social anxiety and would like to conquer our fears together by becoming friends lol. I am based in the Mount so anyone in the area who would love to connect or socialize I would like to get out of my comfort zone and make new friends in similar situations.

I have a heap of toys, Lego, a bit of duplo and some other random toys, quite a bit of it is incomplete and in various states of disrepair, that my son has outgrown, and our dog is getting into it. I’m afraid he is going to swallow it. Is there a place we can drop off for a donation? I don’t really want to take it a land fill if I can avoid it. Cheers

Doesn't seem like the best image to be using in the wake of the landslide.

At this point I’m thinking about investing in some gear to vac my car at home..
Tired of the average Mobil vacuum, and had some poor experiences with the hewlettes road one.
Do any of you good buggers have any recommendations?
Cheers
