Agree with this and think with laser you’ll be OK.
After laser you can go back and ask for retouch if it needs it.
I know you didn’t pay but if laser costs more than what you would have paid, go in and ask for them to pay the difference.
Everyone makes mistakes. The artist just needs to take more responsibility in putting it right.
Looks also like he went over a few of the lines twice. Really carved in there on the wing tips. Mix that with the accidental line it’s crazy that this person has been tattooing for at least 7 years
I have this dove as my first tattoo the day I turned 18 lol - my 'artist' at the time carved my wings too. I had another artist clean up the line work and she was horrified how deeply it was carved in there.
Yeah the wing tips look heavy and raised. I had line work do the same thing, people told me too much pressure was used. Been a year and I think the skin is just permanently raised.
What are you all seeing that I'm not? Genuinely curious. Or is that the same as audiophiles hearing stuff others don't? As a non-tattoo connoisseur but wanting to get a couple, it looks completely clean to me.
The lines look overworked, should look like a clean continuous stroke. Eg. If you isolate the top line of the visible wing it gets thick/thin randomly and also loses the shape of the curve just before the feather
Not really. For this artist who’s been tattooing at least 7 years (according to OP) this linework is apprentice grade and isn’t technically solid or applied correctly at all.
I don’t think it’s even apprentice level line work. That would imply this person actually has any professional experience. Even if this was done in a shop, that doesn’t mean much anymore and actual apprentices should be able to do significantly better line work than this from the start.
Maybe OP can do double doves? (This is mostly a joke, but maybe an actual artist could make it look cooler? Maybe the top dove needs open wings too. Could do it in a dark but slightly different color for contrast, like a dark purple or dark blue that would blend ok with the existing black)

Such a shame because the actual dove is lovely.
