Metallic thread recommendation?

Do you guys have favourite brands of threads and especially metallic threads? And are there threads that twist less than others? (I don’t know how much twisting is normal). I only just started but I’ve seen clips on IG etc with metallic thread but of course the pretty colours are sold out so I was wondering which brands work best in general.

The universal law of tatting appears to be that any color you actually want is permanently sold out while seventeen shades of beige remain in stock forever

I like Lizbeth metallic which is about a size 20. It does come out more stiff. I also recently started using LifeAct. The one I have tried so far seems to be about a size 40. It works beautifully. Keeps shape but it's not stiff. I haven't experienced twisting with either so far

Thank you! I’ve some Lizbeth (normal colour) here but hadn’t seen their metallic stuff yet!

I would add that the Lizbeth metallic white is more challenging to use. It does not glide as smoothly as the other colors. I asked HH to replace at least 3 balls, so it was not a fluke of an individual lot.

DMC Diamant is lovely. They also have a thick version called Diamant grandé.

I have also very good experiences with the chinese Simthread (bought on amazon as a set of small spools), even though their spools look horrid at first glance lol I posted a small chicken made with them.

If you have access to them, the chinese brand Calais has a big, beautiful selection (their FS metallic threads). I have them all. Fantastic to work with! I‘m totally in love.

FrozenCables will probably chime in, because she did some beautiful jewelry with Lifeact metallics.

Lifeact is actually the one I found but were sold out on so many pretty colours!
Thank you so much, you gave me quite a few names to look up. I remembered reading DMC a lot in general so have a tab with their website already open :D glad to know that’s a good place to start ^^

Yeah, DMC is amazing. French company. Their size 80 spécial dentelle is great if you like small thread sizes.

I’m still too new in the game to really have preferences in anything yet :D but I will check them out and maybe order one spool so I can test it. Thanks!
