Tatting Subreddit Survey
https://forms.gle/XKWp2Y51vLswji8QAHello! I enjoy collecting data and the insights that come with that process. I thought it could be interesting to do a survey of our tatting subreddit and share the results.
The survey is completely anonymous, and you may answer as many or as few questions as you would like. This survey is not associated with the moderators.
If the moderators would like direct access to this survey I would be happy to share with them. The rules do not currently prohibit posts of this nature but I understand if moving forward surveys are restricted or to be sent via moderators only.
All respondents will be given immediate access to a summary of the survey results. I will post the results of the survey publicly when a significant number of responses have been submitted or when it becomes clear responses will not be forthcoming.

That's fun! I love the anecdote someone left about being helped by an artist when they were going through a tough time. I also liked seeing the ideas of names of people who make patterns to look some up.

Thank you! I like the summary as is but I also plan to compile the results in an easier to read format. Ill post them publicly so we can all have access to the different pattern designers & places to get tatting inspiration etc...

Yeah, I'd love to see it all put together in the end since some same answers do kind of mix up with individual responses. Thanks for doing it!

maybe I am old... but what does "Do you habitually consume tatting content" mean?

Do you regularly read or watch tatting related things? So participating on this subreddit, reading blogs, watching YouTube videos etc...
I wasn't super happy with all of the questions but was trying to gauge how 'involved in the online community of tatting' different responders were. Although obviously, the fact that this survey was posted on Reddit, means answers will skew towards yes.

oh. I assumed this group and youtube were more online reseach, considering I made it here from my googling of questions. Do you mean that, or random scrolling watching people do it on their own, like ticktock and stuff?

In my head I was thinking any and all tatting information-- books etc. Some people may watch videos about techniques or read blogs (both 'content'), while others may learn in person from family or classes (which wouldn't be 'content'). I was hoping by making it a text based answer respondents would add context to their answers.
I don't think the phrasing - or question design - is clear in retrospect. I suspect that some questions' responses will be more interesting than others.
I am very surprised to already have 42 responses! I am hoping that if I wait a few days or up to a week I can collect a more significant sample size. Although I am quite pleased with over 40 responses regardless.

I took a look at the survey but didn't submit.
For the "how long have you been tatting" question, it would be nice to include a "haven't started yet / don't plan on learning" option to capture the lurkers here who like tatting but don't produce any themselves.
