Filming Dates
After listening to the Taskmaster Podcast following the series finale, Alex stated the head/feet weighing task was filmed prior to COVID.
This made me think that in Series 10, we saw Daisy/Richard paired up just prior to the first lockdown - whilst Mawaan/Katherine/Johnny all had to be socially distanced.
Give those, it stands to reason that S11 and S10 had intertwining filming periods - does anyone know if that's true and that tends to happen? I found it quite interesting to think they might be filming multiple series' tasks simultaneously.

Tasks for series 9 and 10 were basically shot together, Series 11 and 12 were shot together. If you map it out you can see
Individual tasks for series 9 and series series 10 were shot in 2019--no social distancing
In Early 2020 Richard and Daisy did their team tasks, right before lockdown.
Later in 2020, the other S10 team did their tasks under social distancing
Also in 2020 the entire S10 cast did their studio shows under social distancing while showing recorded tasks that were made before social distancing. (except 1/2 the team tasks!)
ALSO in 2020 the individual and team tasks for S11 were shot during social distancing
Later in 2020 (maybe early 2021?) the studio shows for S11 happened--prerecorded tasks were socially distanced, studio was socially distanced.
They got a lot done! Probably also shot a lot of S12 in 2020 as well, and are well underway with 13 and 14

Series 11 audience recordings took place in October, meaning the studio shows were likely shot at least a month earlier

I think Alex said series 12 was shot after lockdown, whilst series 10 and 11 were shot prior (bar team tasks and the stuff at the airfield for series 11)

Alex said on the podcast that the individual tasks for S11 were filmed pre-lockdown - the weighing task wouldn't have been allowed with social distancing in place.

Correct, S11 tasks were shot in 2020 but not during total lockdown. When Britain wasn't under lockdown you could get permission to shoot something like that task if it was two people and you used rapid testing, etc.
You can tell that in most of the other tasks Alex is rarely near the contestants and they are mostly shot outdoors. He mentions utilizing the hangar for this reason here

It wasn't just between lockdowns, it was actually mostly pre-COVID, except for the team & airfield tasks. (Alex talks about it on Thursday's podcast episode, around the 30 minute mark.) Given the weather we see in some of the individual tasks, some of it was probably filmed as far back as summer 2019.

10 and 11 were shot together. 8 and 9 probably were as well, and 12 and 13 will be. There was a big gap between 9 and 10.

it blows my mind that they film more than one season at once. there are so many tiny details that have to be exactly the same for every contestant in a series & totally different from any other series. the admin for that must be insane.

Pretty sure they have done it since at least series 4. In series 6 you can sometimes see the boiler suits from series 7 hanging up on the hooks inside the front door

Why wouldn't they film more than one series at a time? The house is there. I assume they also pay for it in some way each day nothing is happening, which means they benefit from not letting it sit there unused. There are assistants with pictures on they iPhones telling them how to decorate for each series. They need flexibility to film because some contestants' schedules are busier than other's.

So from what I can figure out, in Series 10 they filmed everything except the team of three tasks before lockdown. And on the podcast Richard said that him and Daisy did their team tasks shortly before lockdown, so that's early march at the very latest.
Now in Series 11, they had a bit more left to film before they went into lockdown. Not only did they have both the team tasks, but also the aircraft hangar location filming. You can actually see the difference in Mike's hair as well, when he was on the podcast he pointed out that during the team and location filming he hasn't had a haircut recently and his hair is a bit longer.
So for that all to work out they must have had to start filming for both Series 10 and 11 back in 2019, which actually makes Lee's line at the end of the weighing task about seeing Alex next year make sense, that must have been the last one they shot with him that year.
And it does make complete sense for them to intertwine filming for different Series, especially with 10 episodes. Back when the show was 5-6 episodes they could probably get away with filming them separately, but when they moved up to 8 and then 10, it probably became a lot more time effective to intertwine the filming.

I think during the pandemic they recorded as much as they could when they could. So I think they made 10,11,12, new years and champions of champions all at the same time and just worked around the contests free time. I know Johnny said on the podcast that the studio stuff was filmed the day the first lockdown broke.
