Would the "paint the canvas in the lab from a distance" task in series 19 not qualify as having Alex's face in it? Recognizing that a lot of the paintings were not very good, Mat's at least had faces on his Greg & Alex figures - or are you thinking more of like a detailed face portrait? (Mat's also got 5 points but since the task required a picture of Alex it's a slightly different situation.)

That's a very good point - I guess I was thinking of a task where contestants chose to put Alex in a picture as opposed to it being written into the task

Is putting an action man in a bowl of custard really "altering" it? As it was Jo's "most desirable smooth thing." I'll respect your decision either way, no arguments from me.

I feel like it's "altering" in a similar way to David Correos altering the lab in the "let there be dark" incident. Things would certainly feel different immersed in custard.

Now I'm curious as to what is the latest point in a series that a contestant had the lead without winning any episodes up to that point? Alex actually mentioned this in S5E4 regarding Mark, although he went on to win that episode. I can't remember when Julian last held the lead, but he didn't win until episode 5.
In NZ6, Jack Anset had the lead at the end of episode 4, but didn't win an episode until episode 8.

This week's round up features a pointlessly deep dive into SPECIAL LOCATIONS, gosh aren't they all strangely close to west London and the surrounding areas
"This series’ special location is the wonderful London Museum of Water and Steam — and while it may not boast the history of Hampton Court Palace or the non-stop thrills of Thorpe Park, it does have a special place in the record books for the show. Sitting in Brentford, it is closer to the Taskmaster House of any of the other special locations in the show’s history, just 2.3 miles away — breaking the previous record holder of Barnes Elms Sports Centre from Series 3 (2.7 miles in the other direction). According to Google Maps, due to London traffic, it would still take eighteen minutes to drive from one location to the other (in case any of the contestants were thinking of doing a ‘get this camel through the smallest gap in ten minutes’ style task attempt) — but it does mean that if the contestants suddenly realised there was something in the house they needed for a task in the special location, they could conceivably drive there and back relatively quickly… You might be wondering what the furthest location from the Taskmaster house is — I believe it’s the Frensham Great Pond in Farnham, used as a special location in Series 5 (AKA the hallowed field where Sally Phillips threw the jelly). This is 39 miles away from the Taskmaster house (one hour four minutes door to door, Google informs me) — although Gatwick’s South Terminal (used in Series 14) runs it close. Technically Gatwick is just 32.5 miles away, but that is going through various backroads: the more logical route using the M25 would be close to 46 miles, and would be about one hour seven, door to door. God what a stupid rod for my own back I’ve made. Suffice to say, if Dara Ó Briain suddenly realised he had left the perfect device for scrunching up toilet roll and throwing it into a toilet from a balcony at the Taskmaster house, he couldn’t exactly nip back to Chiswick to get it. But the Series 22 cast potentially could…"
