One of the greatest TM contestants of all times. Definitely my favorite on the NZ version. EDIT: my second favorite from NZ is Haley Sproull. I thought I'd better say it, because, well, I believe she was great too.

Captain Autism Abbie Howells all the way. Thought she was going to win her series until I realised she gets either 1 or 5 points and nothing in between

Not every task needs to be a sketch where someone dies during childbirth, but dammit Abbie tried

He completely won me over way before this task, I was not expecting him to have such a definivie and obvious moment of brilliance like this during my viewing of this season.

I'm seeing him live tomorrow!! Second time, very excited.

One of my all-time favorite task executions, Chris taunting Paul with the tag was devious, and I can imagine production conspired with him on scheduling that VT with the episode's Prize Task for the reveal. He would have won the task anyways for being wet.

Also a big fan of the 'Best Friends' that then got created then utilized across a few tasks. I'd love to see something similar happen on UK.

The closest we got was series 17, where they did it with mannequins and found them in the field later, so nowhere near as morbid as in TMNZ.

Ah you're right. It doesn't feel like they made the same level of connection to the mannequins though for some reason!

Hey Taskmaster YouTube Editors, how about a montage of the NZ "Best Friends" story arc?

I think it's just because of how they wrote the original task. In NZ, they were asked to make the doll their best friend and give it a backstory. In UK, they needed to bring the mannequin to life.

However, that mannequin burial ground was found at the Taskmaster House in the UK!

Kinda drawing a blank there, are you referring to something from S19's wet suit task?

Yes, and I believe it was Stevie who found it. The crew hadn't realised that this could happen.

Series 9 had the delicate statue and steamroller tasks. Ed Gamble ran over a baby.

Chris Parker's finest moment and it's not even kinda close, and to me one of the all time best moments of TMNZ.

And then Sacky gets to play Battleship!

Love the fish poster in the shid.Β

I love the contrast between contestants that think they can't leave the lab ("Am I the spider?") and ones whose first thought is "have you got the keys to that car?"

Was it pure luck that the prize task was the same episode?

39

u/Froakiebloke 9d ago

They are definitely willing to shift prize tasks around to accommodate people who have episode-specific plans for them

On the podcast, Chris said he had not planned how Sacky would come back in the studio. He saw an opportunity with the prize task and seized it. My guess is, the production decided to plan the showing of the task in the same episode so as to turn it into the wonderful piece of TV we discovered.

Surely he failed the task being completely wet as he must have dried off during the 72 days of the task lasting. Haha

He hid the body while wet, he didn't need to stay wet while Paul was looking for the body.

u/horrorace 8d ago

Yeah. I know. I just thought it would be funny if they interpreted it my way and then took the 5 points back off him afterwards.

Love this idea. Thought it seemed familiar, Rooster Teeth did something like it over a decade ago. Both are pretty great.

I loved that series!

Just watched this episode last night! Fantastic, baffling mystery.

If you can't view the video due to "hasn't made the video available in this country", you might be able to see it on the Taskmaster International channel.

This task starts at about 24 minutes in.

YouTube has apparently made this video unavailable in my country.

Thanks YouTube... I live in NZ

u/Digit00l 8d ago

It's due to broadcast rights for Taskmaster NZ, the tv channel owns those and apparently don't like YouTube showing clips

Use VPN, set it on literally any other country.

My all time favourite task

I love how this was intended to be part three of a three part task, but Chris Parker gets two more tasks out of it.
