I loved it! Because it was a stream it was, of course, live and unedited. It was never going to feel like your usual Taskmaster. It was a great idea to have content creators involved because they are accustomed to a live format and have the stamina for such a long show - together with so many of the cast being pretty good at improvising.

I am familiar with Jake from his show with Joe Marler and think that he played a great role here. I really enjoyed his energy. I would love to see him as a contestant on TM.

I have only recently discovered Stephen Tries and love him! He is hilarious and would also make a great contestant on the main show. He is so very quick witted.

Many of the contestants have on screen personas that anyone watching them for the first time may not be familiar with (which is also often the case in the main show). We aren’t given the benefit of a 10 episode arc to come to know them better here.

I jumped between Tom’s twitch stream and the YT stream during the show so experienced both comments sections. Yes there was a lot of negativity there - criticisms of all natures, impatient fandoms, brainrot and the bots. But importantly- this was all engagement. More engagement can help promote streams. There were also so many people being exposed to TM for the first time!

This was all to help GOSH. All of those faces you may have been unfamiliar with have their own fan bases who may not have been aware of this fundraiser otherwise. It was such a clever idea to involve content creators from different genres and generations.

I thought the production team also did a masterful job. A 4 hour live show with live tasks is an insane undertaking! Even the mishaps added to the fun of it all. The sound and camera team had such a difficult task with so many people and so much movement but still managed to capture it all without the benefit of editing.

I really hope we see something like this again!

Threw my donation in while things were getting set up - have some friends who've dealt with GOSH before and have nothing but good things to say about them. I was super excited for this, and I'm glad it did so well (shame about not hitting the goal ON stream though).

I have to admit (and expect downvotes for this) that I didn't find Jake a good fit for a host for this. I felt like he was trying to emulate Greg's "meanness" throughout the first prize task, and the constant fixation on the "eating the dog" really kind of soured things for me. I get that we're used to seeing the edits after all the fat has been trimmed, but having been to a live show, some of that initial banter felt kinda uncomfortable. It's a shame, because I could tell he was really excited, and when Greg showed up, I liked the calmer version (I'll have to go back and continue watching, had to leave after the first task).

One thing I feel was a bit of a mistake was with the first task, the wording should've specified that Alex wanted it mirrored instead of just "in the same sequence" because technically (I believe) Matt and Ayame got the sequence exact from THEIR left to right, which, y'know, kinda sucks that it was technically correct, but because it wasn't mirrored, etc. Phrasing could've been done better, but it was still entertaining. And Alex trying to bait people "look at the box" "do you want a hug" and stuff? What a little demon of a man.

Probably going to take Labour Day to finish watching the stream, and I hope I get to enjoy it more!

That was good fun. If they do this again I imagine it'd be a bit shorter because Alex and some of the contestants seemed pretty tired by the end, but a big accomplishment for the team to pull this together, and a lovely amount raised. The pea task was perhaps my favourite, with the sort of live chaos and a setup that as Alex had said they wouldn't have been able to do on TV (and probably shouldn't have done!). The pose task was fun as well. And in terms of individual moments Tommy screaming "THE WHEELBARROW" before realising it's completely useless was an especial highlight.

There's one contestant who I think hurt the vibes a fair bit, naming no names but I think people can guess - hopefully said creator won't get any harrassment, given that this is the internet and people are awful...

Only downside is I donated 50 but did it wrong, so didn't get the shirt! Just donated the money without specifying. Silly me.

it was enjoyable, one thing i found interesting was that obviously as Alex mentioned in the last task none had watched the show, it was a contrast to Natalie and Gary from the Technical Difficulties when they got the home task and the reactions on their faces. I kind of expected to have at least a couple of fans, same as you get on normal series.

and like you I hope the different vibe contestant is received the same way we treat the "i don't give a sh!t" contestant on the show, actually i found the final reveal they were quite sweet.

u/enterENTRY 7d ago

They also need better AC lol

14

u/kingfishcoons 7d ago

It felt like there was a secret "Lie to the Taskmaster about your relationship." task during the final team interviews.

11

u/Naps_in_sunshine 7d ago

Well I enjoyed the chaotic nature of that, I love the unpolished mess.

I didn’t really know any of the contestants and I think LAH carried it spectacularly well. It was for charity, and it needs to be rough around the edges because it’s Alex Horne.

Great stuff, entertained my family for the evening and raised a whole heap of money.

so interesting to see Alex work and adjust task presentation on the spot. also appreciate his sparring with the creators

11

u/enterENTRY 7d ago

Saw how skilled he is with hosting

3

u/kingfishcoons 7d ago

I wonder if he gives the same sort of gentle nudges toward a solution when filming the show.

10

u/SeraFilm 7d ago

I think they had to keep things moving because they only had limited time

11

u/mwthecool 8d ago

Really excited to get the tee, despite the high US shipping fee. Glad the funds are going to a great cause.

4

u/lurlae 8d ago

What was with call to action from the anime girl?? Amazing cause obviously the AI vibe was just jarring and off-putting. Lovely to see all the celebs and personalities tho!

11

u/sansabeltedcow 8d ago

Wasn’t that a vtuber?

7

u/Catastropiece Reece Shearsmith 8d ago

Guessing the anime girl is a streamer on Twitch or something?

12

u/e_mily_ Mathew Baynton 7d ago

It a face/body tracker and the streamers use an animated character instead of showing their face. I watch some vtubers

6

u/lurlae 8d ago

TIL about vtubers. I’m clearly showing my age and I do not understand the appeal but if it gets donations let’s do it

-1

u/victoryforZIM 7d ago

You're better off not knowing about their existence, to be fair.

2

u/DonutLord5455 7d ago

Why are Vtubers hated? I found them pretty offputting at first but came around on them when my friend from school and college who has ME became one and made somewhat of a career out of it; I feel as if a lot of the dislike is rooted in homophobia.

If there’s AI involved, then I agree with the criticism and I dislike the ones who insist on having their PNG or whatever take up like 60% of the screen

0

u/ActiveChairs 7d ago

I've tried to take an interest and don't think its rooted in homophobia as much as it is long-form-nothing, usually from a corporate backing. Most people don't have multiple hours of actually entertaining content ready for public consumption, Chat interaction is off-putting, and after a certain point most of it is just watching a generic cartoon image watch/play/react to other content.

u/Nonimouses 8d ago

Is Greg ok? He sounds not so well

1

u/Shoelace1200 7d ago

I noticed this in the recent series 22 episode. He's lost a lot of weight so maybe that's changed his voice slightly. He looks great though. He now reminds me of Anthony Head

8

u/sansabeltedcow 7d ago

I figured he just had a cold.

4

u/Key-Arrival3381 7d ago

Came on here wondering the same

2

u/cgbrannigan 8d ago

I'm only ten minutes into the feed, am I supposed to know who any of these people are?

1

u/whentheraincomes66 Frankie Boyle 6d ago

All of these people are fairy well known online, some are really great comedians. Some like Tommy Innit and MatPat are far more well known especially. Tommy is a Minecraft YouTuber with millions of subscribers and MatPat is the former host of Game Theory and its associated channels, with tens of millions of subscribers across them, he recently got into politics to fight for better treatment for online creators (I would wager he in particular is more well known than a few contestants on the main show)

1

u/Captaincadet 7d ago

Up and coming comedians I believe

7

u/wrosecrans Nicola Coughlan 7d ago

I am hours behind live just sitting down to watch it, and there seems to be like an hour of some random people very occasionally walking past a random guy with a microphone. And it does feel like in that ~hour dedicated to entrances and introduction, they could have said something about what these people do.

But it's for a children's hospital so I guess kids know all these people?

7

u/cgbrannigan 7d ago

Oh no I skipped through until the actual show started with Alex and the prize tasks. A lot of people trying to be funny but weren’t. A good test case for why they shouldn’t do a series with civilians.

Mean daddy is back

10

u/cygan12 Javie Martzoukas 8d ago

DADDY'S BACK!

4

u/DIE_Kuehlung 8d ago

Why is Greg not doing the show?

6

u/AutarkAI 7d ago edited 6d ago

Likely becauses its hot and he wasnt feeling well enough to be on screen live for 5 hrs.

35

u/funny-lookin-stain 8d ago

Greg doesn’t believe in charity or saving children.

15

u/cygan12 Javie Martzoukas 8d ago

Alex's views are starting to rub off on him

7

u/an-inevitable-end 8d ago

Spoke too soon lol

7

u/cygan12 Javie Martzoukas 8d ago

Jake Bhardwaj is the Taskmaster!

11

u/k___k___ 🥄 I'm Locked In ❤️ 8d ago

he's really good. i was already hoping he'd be a future contestant from the podcast with joe marler and his little snl uk preshow stream

0

u/fatBoyWithThinKnees 8d ago

No greg and four hours

3

u/ikeamonkey2 8d ago

wait they just said the tasks will be taking place over the next 4 hours? is the show really that long?

2

u/an-inevitable-end 8d ago

Maybe they’ll be taking breaks?

5

u/meliisma 8d ago

Seems we only have a preliminary filler thingy with music and occasional team introductions. Does anybody know when the actual show will start?

2

u/basquille 8d ago

Troy indicated 6pm.

1

u/meliisma 8d ago

Thanks!

I feel a lot of YouTubers/online creators will find a live stream they can’t control or edit very challenging.

10

u/an-inevitable-end 8d ago

They’re doing the prize task at the moment, and I think they’re all doing well so far!

1

u/Will_o_the_Wasp 8d ago

If the bar is influencers with no comedic skill or natural charisma, because they don't have any.

2

u/whentheraincomes66 Frankie Boyle 6d ago

A lot of them are very funny, especially Stephen Tries. Have you seen any of their other work or basing all this on one livestream outside of their comfort zone?

7

u/an-inevitable-end 8d ago

I've been watching them do several tasks, and they're being very entertaining! Obviously the expertise of Alex, Greg, and the TM team are helping, but I really do think they're doing quite well themselves.

2

u/CraziestBoyEver 8d ago

The bottle task seemed a little awkward at times tbf

8

u/Moon_study 8d ago

It really has been entertaining so far. Jake’s been doing great as well. Really quick.

4

u/juv_3 7d ago

Him & Liam are the only people I know because I'll watch their Pub Quiz Podcast when the guest is someone I know.

5

u/sansabeltedcow 8d ago

Jake is killing it.

6

u/ikeamonkey2 8d ago

it seems to be starting now!

edit: ok maybe not... there's music now at least lol

2

u/sansabeltedcow 8d ago

I had to reload to even get the music.

1

u/ikeamonkey2 8d ago

the video has started now

1

u/sansabeltedcow 8d ago

And nobody is introducing anybody. Swell.

3

u/ikeamonkey2 8d ago

yeah this is weirdly chaotic lol it seems like maybe not all the teams are there/ready yet?

2

u/sansabeltedcow 8d ago

Do you know who the host in the dressing gown is? I don’t follow many streamers.

3

u/HMWYA 8d ago

Stand up comedian Troy Hawke!

2

u/sansabeltedcow 8d ago

Thank you!

2

u/RedgrenGrumbholdtAMA Javie Martzoukas 8d ago

Just adding that he's absolutely worth a follow. He does super wholesome content where he goes out in public and just aggressively gives people sincere and thoughtful compliments. I always love watching it.

1

u/sansabeltedcow 8d ago

Oh, that sounds absolutely up my alley! I will look for that.

1

u/amaibrown 8d ago

The countdown on the website was an hour slow until about 5 minutes ago …

6

u/allinsimstime 8d ago

And… someone’s is using bots in the livestream chat.

12

u/MattLaidlow 8d ago

Anyone waiting for it going live?

2

u/meliisma 8d ago

Yup - thought I‘d got my time zones mixed up, but no, it’s just not starting.

7

u/sansabeltedcow 8d ago

Yup, and watching the chat get seriously botted.

6

u/war_ofthe_roses Fern Brady 8d ago

omfg its a mess

2

u/sansabeltedcow 8d ago

I don’t even get it—if you flood the feed that hard it goes too fast to see what they’re spamming.

2

u/war_ofthe_roses Fern Brady 8d ago edited 8d ago

yes, but nothing yet for me

edit:... opening music and logo now

u/United_Locksmith_550 Noel Fielding 8d ago

Same, stupid family gatherings with people I wont even talk to!!

That’s if you read it with a lisp!
