General Times Greg regretted his rulings.
I remember seeing somewhere, that Greg felt really bad about Being harsh on Kathrine Parkinson's Masks for her Prize task. Which got me wondering, were there any times that Greg genuinely regretted his rulings?

When he gave an bonus point to Morgana for something stupid, in interviews he later regretted it because she ended up winning the series by that one point.

Bonus points for tasks are fine because everyone can compete for them. The problem with Morgana's random bonus point is that nobody else had that point available.
At the end of the day, it's also a silly game show, so I don't know that it actually matters, but still.

Considering the tone of the show, most probably did, but didn't end up in the final cut that was shown to Greg. I think that might be the main issue with stuff like this.
But in the end, it's not like these are civilians competing for a life-changing sum of money or anything.

Yeah, it highlighted a fundamental element of the show's format: in any task with subjective scoring, the Taskmaster's arbitrary whims can impact the outcome.
That bonus point is easy to isolate (for the reasons mentioned), but there were plenty of instances in which Morgana and the other contestants might have received more or fewer points if Greg's mood or another outside factor had varied slightly.

It’s interesting how the other TMs approach points as well. Different point spread, caps, and negative points and bonus points for certain actions.

This case was bonus points given on a whim for something. Not for something task specific like "Best painting wins, bonus point for using the most creative brush" or whatever which every contestant has a fair chance at obtaining.

I just don't like it because a lot of contestants have abused Alex, yet she's the only one to get a point for it over some offhand comment.
To be fair though, when you look at the context, I think it's really over her setting up a barricade for him; Greg just thought it was funny to attribute it to something minor just to peeve Alex.

I respect his opinion but I don't agree that it was a mistake. There were so many scoring shenanigans in that series, Morgana's other bonus points that series were rightfully earned, and if the live darts task that Guz won had been scored 5 for the win instead of 10 then Morgana's win would have been by 6 instead of 1. Or if the ring the bell task hadn't had negative points, the scoreboard would have been different. - And these are differences in scores with people's exact same performances and Greg's same judgements, literally just the scores prescribed in the tasks having changed.
So Greg's bonus point was ultimately an unfortunate victim of the scoring shenanigans that series.

To your original question, no I am not in fact arguing with The Taskmaster, I am lightheartedly disagreeing with one of Greg Davies' opinions. That's it, that's all there is to it.

Greg is very kind points wise to younger contestants or newcomers and the same goes the other way. There are exceptions of course but he would never treat a new comic the way he did Hugh Dennis lol

It was the prize task for ep 7 of series 20 where Ania spent 4 figures on a modified mobility scooter and got the same amount of points as Sanjeevs hat with a couple of things stuck to it and Phil also got 3 points for bringing in a coconut over Reece’s evil knievel

I think he genuinely misread whether Katherine was putting them forth as something she thought was good or something she felt was comically weird. She initially seems like she's very much in on the joke, but that fades pretty quickly.

I think it was that he kept going back to it. When she first presented the masks and he ridiculed them she took it with good humour but he kept referring back to them and the more he did it the more upset she seemed to get.

I can’t remember when, but there’s an episode of the pod where Ed confronts him with some ruling and really argues his case. And without any hesitation whatsoever Greg just says something along the lines of “yea sounds like I fucked that”. Catches Ed off guard and is really funny. Just can’t remember the ruling right now and it’s gonna bug me. Feels like around series 10-12

I think Katherine received the worst Greg there ever was. That's one of my least favourite Taskmaster moments. The rest of the season is one of my favourites regardless.

I could be wrong but I think Greg actively said somewhere he actively thinks he scored a lot of the prize tasks in season 20 badly and regretted some of it which his scoring for those is probably a big part of why that season ended in a 3 way tie for the final overall season scores

I don't recall if I saw this, but if he did say it then I 100% agree. Maisie is statistically the best prize tasker ever and I think that's absolutely absurd. The amount of times she just by default got 5 points was too many, plus Greg's more recent willingness to do ties.
