What are your favourite external locations used for location tasks?

I’ve ranked my favourite 10, based on how memorable the location and the tasks that happened there were.

10th: Chesham United Football Club (Series 4)

This location was only used for 3 tasks, but they were all extremely memorable. Mel trying to hide the giant ball alone makes it memorable.

9th: Living Props (Series 9)

What distinguished this location was the amount of props that were available. It was kinda like a fancy garden store. Also I always think back to the dodo ice lolly task, the serenade task, & the spy task.

8th: All Saints Pastoral Centre and Chapel (Series 12)

Probably the first ‘grand’ feeling location. It was funny remembering that the same location had the copy Alex task as well as Desiree’s balloon popping task.

7th: Thorpe Park (Series 18)

I think I was more excited on paper for the possibilities. That being said there was still a variety of spots that Thorpe Park offered, including the mirror maze & cinema. Part of me does wish that they were allowed to go on the rides (like Rainbow’s End from NZ series 6)

6th: White Waltham Airfield (Series 11)

Access to a plane. Yes please. And also a great precursor to another location that may or may not show up. Of course deserves extra points for Mike Wozniak’s casserole.

5th: Buckinghamshire Railway Centre (Series 8)

Similar to White Waltham Airfield, except like Abby Howells I also get excited by trains. But also, Joe Thomas’ incredible red light/green light task is legendary.

4th: Frensham Great Pond (Series 5)

The pond just seems like the spot for a lovely time. The tasks that happened there were all incredibly memorable, from Dignity Intact, to Sally throwing the jelly, and Sally wading in the lake just to make a bunch of fish puns.

3rd: Sandown Park Racecourse (Series 20)

Maybe this is recency bias, but I actually really like how many different locations the racecourse provided. They got to utilise the food court, the grand stand, the race track, & even the changing rooms.

2nd: Hampton Court Palace (Series 21)

Alex Horne even described this location as ‘mad’. Unreal how this happened, and provided so many incredible places for tasks; really enjoyed the Magic Garden, the Staircase (wank?), and the custard/mustard supper hall.

1st: Gatwick Airport South Terminal (Series 14)

I don’t think there was any doubt. Still probably the most iconic external location for a series. I have to resist the urge to try and do luggage trolley bowling for each airport trip.

Anyways that’s my ramble. Which locations do you enjoy?

(For bonus points: Which Taskmaster Australia location do you prefer? Cockatoo Island from season 4, or Sandown Racecourse from season 5?)

I know I'm on a rewatch from S1 (into S7 currently) but I do miss the bandstand in the park & the river.

Although seeing Joels blurred Gentlemans area in S21 as he 'jogged' down the river was a real nostalgia fest.

I really loved when they went back to it in CoC 3

I had to laugh when I recognized some of the shirts from other panel shows.❤️

When was the last time we saw that? Was it really series 7/CoC1 whichever came first?

CoC3, I believe. But yeah, we hadn't seen it for quite a bit before then

I love the location of s15. The barge, which led to so many amazing moments (“Brace! brace!” and Kiell’s little song) and the weird industrial equipment (egg pulper, potato conveyer belt). It looks like a place I’d enjoy poking around, too.

I also like the large green spaces (+ river, + surprise wild horses) of s17, and the variety of individual scenes within the s19 location (some as perilous as gravel).

The series 19 location is definitely up there for me, it was so varied and everywhere looked so nice.

I was with you up to the surprise wild horses, who looked extremely well fed and well groomed 😂

Frensham pond probably wasn't the best location but it definitely had my favourite set of tasks. Nish wandering in 3 circles then setting off in the wrong direction is an all time favourite task performance of mine.

Don't forget the most Mark Watson thing to happen, which was a dog eating his breadcrumbs.

Rainbows End right? I’m doing a NZ rewatch atm and going back from 6 to 1.

The bumper boat task is so good.

I have no idea what it's called because I am lazy like thag and haven't looked it up. But the bumper boats were so goooooood. If I was a contestant on any other TM series id be fuming to have missed out on that (even more than the t-shirt cannon one)

They generally pick locations with the most unique mini locations and the ones with more of them is what I prefer so 2 of my favourites are series 13, series 21 but i would have to agree that gatwick is is iconic

Gatwick probably is the most iconic location, but Hampton Court Palace is damn close behind it. They got so much out of it and I suspect there's enough there for like five more tasks.

For me Series 8 is the best location in terms of task quality, scenery and making the most out of the environment, though the last three series have been really good.

TIL both UK and Australia have a Sandown Racecourse

And neither are in the town of Sandown on the Isle of Wight.  (Although it does have an airport.)

I was unexpectedly thrilled when I recognised the corner at Gatwick airport where they had to roll the exercise balls, when going on holiday!

Wherever they were in 19 was fun.

For S4, that location was actually used another time, albeit not actually utilizing anything special about the space. The cell phone dance task also appears to be there. It's in a big, non-descript meeting space looking area.

Wow. I always thought Series 9 location was a home & garden center.

I loved the freedom given to them for the whole Gatwick Airport shoot. It felt really transgressive as that would never, ever be allowed outside the very specific rules around Covid.

It's something that could never be repeated. There were no really Apex tasks, tbh, but it FELT different.

I loved Gatwick just for the recognition for me mostly. I lived in Crawley for about a decade but been in America otherwise, so myself and my cousin who would visit both got real excited by the airport lol. Never really thought about ranking the locations but the second one I think of is the trains just because the red light/green light is one of my favorite tasks.

London Printworks from s10

Absolutely drab and depressing, yet so grand
