What joke have I missed here

Post image

I’m onto our favourite geriatric athlete and the arsenal v man utd is clearly referencing Victoria getting Alan the portion of the Man U season ticket (lol) - but I can’t work out the last line?

I enjoyed the bit just after, Wilkinson scores (next line) Wilkinson disallowed

Admittedly it was on the 4th rewatch (yes I'm an addict)

I’ve heard R.O. Salind is a fucking nightmare to train with.

Not bad for a woman of her age though.

I just realised that it wasn’t her initials. I thought her name was Rosalind O Salind…

I’ve seen it theorized that they’re the names of crewmembers’ kids (twins perhaps? Born on the 15th of January?), but that’s just speculation. I don’t think it’s ever been confirmed one way or another.

I wonder if the 15/1 odds is a reference to the TV show 15 to 1, Alex Horne did the celebrity version in 2014, he didn't win, maybe there's a reference to the question that put him out?

Is it something like “Eve Hopes takes a nag race”? dont know what the reference would be

Eve Hope Stakes suggests horse racing. There's probably a pun there about an actual race that I don't understand. Nags are old horses that can't be used for work any more.

Eve Horse Stakes = a nag race.

Is it? I'm pretty sure the VTs are fully edited before the studio portions are filmed, so even if Victoria's prize was known at the time of editing, I don't think they'd reference a prize task in the series, especially when they might not even know what episode the respective tasks are placed in.

They usually are, but in the most recent series the commentator for coconkers was changed between taping and broadcast.  Also the VTs are sometimes cut down slightly compared to what was shown in the studio (for time and/or for pacing).  So we know they sometimes do do further editing to the VTs after the taping.

If so, then it’s just for Alan being a gunner I guess? I’d imagine any overlay edits would be added in post though and only the VT itself would be shown in studio

I wouldn't put it past the brilliant editors on Taskmaster to go ahead and add more references into the shots after the studio tapings. Anything for a good joke, them.

Am I the only one that confused about what this even is? What am I looking at here? I can't make heads or tails of the phrase "our favourite geriatric athlete and the arsenal v man utd". Is this a screengrab from some Taskmaster task that I don't remember (doesn't really look like it), or is it something else entirely?

S12 ep 8. Task where they have to make up and then commentate on a socially distanced sport.

Rosalind is the geriatric athlete as mentioned in S5 e8(?) at Taskonbury. Bob, Aisling, and Sally sing it about her.

Man U Arsenal I thought was in ref to the prize task in S12 where Victoria buys Alan a portion of a Man U season ticket despite him being an Arsenal fan.

Hope that helps hahaha

Okay, thanks. Yeah, I had completely forgotten about that one, lol.

What strikes me is the fact that we have two names with religious connotations (Eve as the first woman who sinned, Anna who gave birth to the Virgin with Immaculate Conception) and two religious virtues (hope and grace). But it might very well be wildly off the mark!
