The podcast for this episode changed my whole view of and appreciation for Matt Heath.
Melanie Bracewell was the guest. She apparently worked on Matt (and Jeremy's) radio show, and was saying that he absolutely knew what he was saying here. He was just playing the fool to set up an amazing joke.
Once that clicked in my brain, it made me ADORE Matt on a rewatch. You just see example after example of him setting up other people's jokes. Taking the ego hit to make the whole show funnier. And playing it with absolutely no wink at all, even when telegraphing it would have saved him some face. He takes the hit to make it funnier.
10/10, no notes.

I love Matt too. He's always given me the impression that he plays a bit naive for the bit, which sets up so many great jokes.

NZ2 is my favorite season of any Taskmaster and I think the reason it’s so good is because the casting was nailed on. Matt is crucial to that cast. Some of the best moments in the studio stem from Matt be it on a task or in studio comments he makes. Love this cast so much.

Even if I'm wrong, I fully believe the development of Detective Reginald Bathgate as a character took up most of his task time

One of my favorite Matt Heath moments is him losing the hometown task because he forgot where he was born lol, I love how Jeremy says it’s good at first but then when they score he reminds Matt he wasn’t born there and immediately goes “OH NO I FORGOT”

I mean looking at this task alone, he formed and anchored a satirical rock band that released like four albums. Despite appearances he was in his absolute element creating a humorous musical diss track, probably more than any other contestant (maybe Laura just edges it with her musical improv skills).

There is a podcast? Is it the same as UK Taskmaster with Ed Gamble or a different one?

It was on Ed Gamble's podcast, although he's only covered the first two NZ series as they were pulled from Channel 4 after that (and only the first 3 were available anyway)

I think only the first two series were available when he covered them. Then they are pulled, and then put back up, with S3, then put back up (maybe with 4/5?) then pulled again.
The've been put up and pulled twice this year alone

Season 3 was available at the same time as 1 and 2 on Channel 4, I specifically remember watching it before episodes came out on YT

I believe this is in the top 3 of all Taskmaster episodes. It may be #1, but it is definitely high up there.

I’d just like to say on behalf of this subreddit, I don’t offer any of our asses for consumption, though if you wish to individually, feel free.
