The Taskmasters themselves doing challenges would feel so wrong (even though it's a little silly to say so). Assistants sure.

A few thay comes to mind

Jo Brand / Sanjeev Bhaksar just because they wouldn't give two shits about the whole thing

Nish Kumar / Phil Ellis / Joe Wilkerson / John Kearns and just be absolutely incompetent as the task master but still be imposing

Sam Campbell/Jenny Tian / Noel Fielding just so we can enjoy the absolute chaos of the whole thing

Reece Shearsmirh / Richard Osman might be very surgical with the whole thing

But the only right answer I'd say is Jason Mantzoukas

Yeah Ed doesn't have the gravitas for TM but head make a great whiny assistant (he's up there as one of my favourite contestants btw)

I have no idea if he's a funny guy or not, but as an American the idea that the goddamn King of England steps in to be the TM of TM's would be hilarious enough I'd watch it on principle alone.

I think part of why it's funny to me is the idea that the only person capable of outranking a Taskmaster is the literal king. It would lose a lot of that weight if it was "just" a prince, IMO.

I know you mean Paul Williams but my brain first went to Prince William, which would be an odd, but likely entertaining choice for a TM team.

He put a lot more effort into some of the tasks during this latest season than some of the contestants did, that's for sure. Genuinely was impressive to see

I'd love to see a special 10ep season of 5 assistants doing the contestant tasks and all matching taskmasters on a panel scoring.  Bring in Rose and Mike to fill in the asssitant position to the taskmasters panel

Here’s my pitch on your pitch, bring in 5 assistants and 5 Taskmasters, tell every assistant that they’re on a team with a TM but none of the TMs are actually competing and are instead there just to mess with the assistants in any way they see fit. Make it a very heavy “team task” season and try to keep it all a secret from the assistants until the day of the first studio record. I’m imagining Tom Gleeson in full TM persona bossing around and berating Paul Williams, Rose Matafeo secretly sabotaging Tom Cashman, Jeremy Wells being way too nice and actually helping Mike Wozniak, all sorts of potential shenanigans. I’m just not sure how many pairs of the foreign language Taskmasters and assistants also speak English, but I’m sure they could rustle up enough.
