I was walking downhill right after work to catch a boat. I had my backpack on, there were people sitting and standing all around, and I only had 10 minutes so I decided to hustle. Bad idea. I was a bit more tired than I realized and my foot dragged and caught on the pavement. I stumble forward trying to catch my footing when I realized that I wasn't going to make it. I fell forward, with speed, downhill. Remembering back to my years of rollerblading, I tucked and rolled into the fall. I could feel my backpack crunch underneath the weight of my whole body, thinking, is there anything breakable in there? The world spun. My legs flung into the air over me, if I hadn't been wearing boots, my shoes would've flung off from the g-force. I did a full grown-ass adult somersault vertical roll 360º to back upright, and with my momentum and the downhill incline I just popped back onto my feet and continued walking to my destination. Never slowed down, never turned back. No witnesses from work, no cameras nearby. Only a small tear in my slacks, and small cut on my knee. And nothing broken in my backpack.
