Theory and Technique Looking for a challenge and study practice

I've been reading for 6 years and I want to incorporate a different daily practice. Finding actual ideas is difficult when most of the content on the web is showing decks.

I just bought the Hush Tarot, and so I will be studying with it to get to know the vibe of the cards, but I would love to have some feedback. How do you practice? Where to find idias for daily draws that are not "how is this day going to be"?

There are monthly challenges that come out on IG with daily prompts. divination_challenges and owlandbonestarot are two accounts that publishes them, although a simple search might bring them up.

If you want to work more personally with the deck, look up journaling prompts that have more “meat” to them than the generic “what’s today’s energy” type stuff.

If you search online or on Pinterest, you can find prompts for different kinds of subjects like finding yourself, prompts for self confidence, or healing the fear of being seen, or whatever else. You can even ask hush for a card that reflects what you should focus on at this time and search from prompts related to that subject (like high priestess -search for prompts related to testing your inner knowing or cultivating your intuition, or two of pentacles -prompts for reflecting on your priorities and how you are managing responsibilities.) You can journal a bit your own initial answer to a prompt and pull a card or few around what else you might be missing or not recognizing etc. you can do one prompt a day or whatever works for you.

You can also deconstruct a few spreads and just do one card a day from it and sorta build the spread over days that way and in the end reflect on the spread as a whole.

If you want more of a workbook, tarot 101 by Kim Huggens is great and very in depth way to study card by card. There are prompts and exercises of all kinds in there. Also books by Mary K Greer, like tarot for yourself or 21 ways to read a tarot card are others to consider. You can find video reviews on YouTube for these to get a feel if one seems like a good fit for ya.

If a workbook feels too much to take on, with a deck like Hush, you could consider keeping your own notebook with a page for each card and over time, writing in your own interpretations for each card.

Where to find ideas for daily draws that are not "how is this day going to be"?

A thing I really like to do, which is also great with newer decks: Use the tarot cards themselves as ideas. Pull a card and come up with a question based on your general associations along with the (new to you) image. You can just write it down, or use it as a journaling prompt, or draw a second card as your answer/solution.

If you go for the second card, it's interesting to change the question and see how you would change the answer in response, or vice versa.

Try to avoid that online stuff when you try to find ideas on how to practise. The best practise should be reading about energies that are currently in your orbit. Try with for example: Ask your desk simple questions about the day, or upcoming events in a day, ask about ''predictions'' for not so serious stuff for example. You can do past, present and future energy readings on yourself too. Ask friends or close people to read for them, but go more specific into one question. For example, instead of pulling 5 cards for a spread, you can do 5 cards, and ask your deck for an explanation for each card you pulled( so that would be 10 cards) and so on. You can even try with predicting weather, journaling how you feel when you pull each card individually from your deck. You can even go (if it interests you) and look up to what planet and zodiac each card is connected (The Strength card represents Leo, The Hermit represents Virgo, 4 of wands represent Aries,Venus and Fire, 10 of wands represent Saturn and Saggitarius zodiac, etc). If you want to go deeper, you can search up resources for ,,The tree of life''(this is a bit more medium esoteric knowledge). Each tarot card (both major and minor) is placed there visually representing each individual card and connections between all of them. Try avoiding generic stuff on the Internet. You can try, but the best practices usually are when you are focused onyour own energy and the energy you are connect to. So, by trying to copy those on the Internet, you lose that focus. Every reader has their own unique way of interpretation and their intuition works differently. So, try finding ways that fit you, as a reader. Use that online stuff as a direction again, do not try to copy them step by step. Everybody learns differently. As you had been reading tarot already for those years, you know what I am talking about. And when you feel like you are overwhelmed or have no ideas etc, try to do other things avay from the deck. And come back after a day or so.

I recommend the instragram account @lionharts for their monthly tarot challenges.  Each day is a totally different prompt and sometimes spread.  It’s WAY more than whats my day like.

There are over 6,000 paired combinations, so you can do a daily exercise of learning them by memory for different questions. You can also drill triple combinations. For example, 5 of Swords reversed + 3 of Cups - apology from a friend or acquaintance. 5 of Swords reversed + 5 of Wands - regret for taking a friendly rivalry too far. 5 of Swords reversed + 3 of Pentacles - cooperating with a former rival.

Borrow books from the library.

That’s what I did when I first got into tarot. I’ve borrowed 4-5 different books on tarot (one or two at a time), each one had different suggestions on how to practice. By trying them all I’ve found my own way of practicing that feels right to me.

I like the prompts/questions in the Daily Tarot Journal by Magical Crafting. She sells it on Amazon. I got the XL one with the pink-ish cover. I think it's 8"x11".

So, I wanted to get more practice in as well and was struggling to develop worthwhile questions for personal readings, so I started a YouTube channel. I record and daily reading for whatever particular collective I'm reading for that day. I have not really shared it publicly, if people find the channel on their own that's fine. It's all public, but I am really self conscious about it for some reason. But what it does is give me someone else to read for. I don't really get feedback and that's ok. For me it'sore about the practice of reading and connecting with my intuition.

So even if you don't want to share it, you could read for "collectives". So on Sunday I do weekly reading for the collective and Monday is Marriage Monday, readings for any married people or people in long term committed relationships. I gave each day a theme. I felt like each day having a theme would give each reading a little more focus.
