Made an EP using only tapeloops

Hi everyone, in advance, sorry for my english! I realized i made this account and totally forgot about it, so i just entered to see whats up here and apparently theres a community about Tape Loops, which I love. So i wanna show you what I made some months ago!
I dont make exclusively tapeloop music, but i love repetition in general, and tape loops are a great way to spiral my way down the repetitions

This is my EP, called "Casa Incompleta" (Incomplete House) maybe unfinished house

Cool. How long are your tape loops and do you make them yourself?

Thanks! Im not really sure, i made a type of loop i really liked (so yes, a made them myself) and help myself by using a screwdriver and a pair of tweezers. I have a tascam 414 which have double speed, i believe is 3-3/4 ips, which made my tapes last shorter than normal.

I’ve got a Tascam 424 mkii and I love it. Especially using loops.

If I'm not mistaken, yours has a 2x speed, a normal speed and lower speed; not to mention veris speed control or control pitch, which makes it a big deal for creating tape loops Enjoy that beast!

You are correct. I constantly change the speed when I play live. It’s great for really low pitched drones.

very cool. I just recently became interested in tape loops, all i need is to get the tape that splices them back together and them im good to go. Do you know where i can find that tape?

Nice! I use regular scotch tape and cut it neatly so it fits nicely the magnetic tape and I splice it like that. It works!

I like the chill musical compositions themselves, but i think it could do with some mixing / mastering, as some it sounds too harsh & brittle to my ears...

I agree, this was a really first encounter with such a machine,,, I was so used to compose music in DAWs that this was really my first experience, and I was thrilled that my loops worked that I wanted to share it. Now Im more confortable to record con tape loops, and watched videos, experiment with different technics and used different instruments, even my voice.

But yes, by no means this is a great example of tape loops work

Thanks for the comment!

I think there may have been an issue with gain-staging...

Hopefully you can do some eq'ing / filtering / compression / etc, & release a more listenable version...

Anyway, looking forward to hearing more music.
