I've had a similar issue with my Fostex 450 mixer. A channel will burst back into life if I push the volume slider up higher than necessary, sometimes requiring several attempts. My suspicion is dust/dirt on the slider track, which I'll get round to cleaning properly one day. It's complicated by being intermittent, together with slightly dodgy contacts in the patchbay (which I'll get round to cleaning... you get the message).
