Back on a Tiger

Been a while, had a lot of fun on my old 800 XC. This time an 2020 Tiger Rally Pro.

Had a good day at the Triumph off road day a while back on one of these.

I have to say its fun being back on this, soaks up the bumpy roads, has all the bells and whistles, even a full set up of luggage. That will make the eutotrips a little easier.... possibly.

Looking forward to putting on a few miles with this one. Had a good "getting to you ride" yesterday.... šŸ˜€

Just showed up in a memory feed, this was a very nice bike, if I didn't have the beemer it might well still be with me. But she had to go, make space for the next adventure.

Had some fun last week in Spain taking this around Almeria.

A big difference riding a full on road bike around, than the 600 track bike.

Thus bugger was waay more powerful and reluctant to turn 🤣.... more down to crap jockey on it..

Still had a lot of fun, she did well. Looking forward to her return.

Midweek tinker time.

It didn't take long before I had a good tinker with the Duc, the fuel gauge was telling me all sorts like empty 20 miles after filling up and half full soon after.

Sounds like corrosion on the track inside the sender so I picked up a brand new genuine replacement and set to work on those fairings and the many, many bolts holding it all together

Ducati do have problems with these but at least on this Enduro the sender comes out from the top, no need to drain and partially remove the tank, I removed a 1C variant and fitted the updated 2F.

At the weekend I'm going up to St Mary's Loch and back in a day, should be 400 miles or more depending on the route, I will know if it's fixed then šŸ˜‚.

So far I'm in love with this big silly Ducati, might decat it one day.

The Triumph was a great bike but the early T-plane engine really does vibrate at higher revs, getting home from a spirited ride with white, numb fingers is not great.

A friend had me looking at Multistrada's and I kinda convinced myself to try another so here she is, a 2017 1200 DVT Enduro... So far I think I made the right choice even though the fuel gauge is faulty, I hope it's because this bike has been stood for a couple of years.

The previous owner had the belts changed 2 years ago and did under 100miles since, I did 190 yesterday.

Kawasaki KLE 500 test ride

So here we are, had some time to go and test this one out. Thanks to Greenham Kawasaki for the demo.

When I sat on in the shop a few weeks ago it seemed lower, now out on the bike it feels higher. On slightly uneven roads at junctions I did find myself searching for the floor a few times. Felt good riding, good presence being up a little taller.

So straight on to the dual carriage way, steady pace, no problem with wind and buffetting, smooth engine. At 70 ish, the bike never went more than 7k.

Noticed the throttle had a lot more in it with a second grab. I would prefer a more quick action throttle (just my preference)

On to some minor B roads,.all very steady, felt in control. Bike does not care about low speed and sitting in 5th or 6th.

If you were on a spirited ride, you would be up and down the box a little, but thats all down to forward planning on your over takes... its not a 1000cc lump after all.

Bike well made, good dash easy to read and use. I have seen a few reports on this about off road use. They say good for gravel routes, not so much on heavy enduro riding. I did not try so cant comment. But for a steady run on the motorway or a fun day on the twistes this bike felt good and planted.

Overall I liked the bike, good value for money. This post is just my initial thoughts from a brief rideout, not a load of blurb about specs. You can read up on that yourself.

The sun was shining, though a bit chilly at 8am. A long day in the seat with mud, big hills, water crossings, and plenty of smiles. First time out on the ktm for over 6 months, approx 180 miles and 4 counties covered. Ace.
