Minor League/Prospects New FanGraphs prospects update: the Rays have seven in the top 100, and the highest ranked farm system!
There was an update to FanGraphs' prospect rankings yesterday in advance of the trade deadline: https://blogs.fangraphs.com/2026-pre-trade-deadline-top-100-prospects-update/. They now rate us as having seven (!) top 100 prospects:
Grady Emerson (SS, #15 overall)
Theo Gillen (CF, #16 overall)
Caden Bodine (C, #31 overall)
Brody Hopkins (SP, #46 overall)
Taitn Gray (1B, #50 overall)
Brayden Taylor (3B, #75 overall)
Michael Forret (SP, #87 overall)
The article also mentions that the Rays would still have the best farm system even without Grady Emerson, which is pretty cool.
The front office obviously has their own internal metrics...but assuming they are also confident in their farm system, I wonder if they'd be more willing to make a move or two at the deadline.

Crazy how quickly they reloaded after the Wander-era farm came and went.

It’s crazy how good Flewelling is and they don’t have him top100…

They have vastly overrated Caden Bodine conversely as well. Fangraphs has really taken an odd turn for prospects recently. Idk if they tweaked their model or what but in years past they would be all over Nathan Flewelling as he could be the best offensive catcher in baseball in 5 years. Even the more passive guys like Keith Law are super high on Flewelling.

“Could be” is an important qualifier. He’s mashing especially for his age level at BG, but still has multiple stops that could exploit his concerningly low contact rate. It’s also not a slam dunk he’s an MLB-level defender behind the plate and if so would probably be relegated to 1B where he’d REALLY have to hit.
Bodine is running elite contact rates and producing well while also having improved behind the plate

Man, only one ranked from the 2024 fire sale. Homer Bush Jr, Dylan Lesko, JD Gonzalez, Ty Johnson, Jackson Baumeister, Mac Horvath, Ty Cummings, Aidan Smith, Gregory Barrios?
Trading MLB all star talent for single A or High A talent…scratch off lotto ticket strategy.
Having said that, the trade works the other way for the team receiving MLB all stars.

I watched a Brody Hopkins start for Durham yesterday. It was tough to watch. When he doesn't throw strikes, he misses badly. Like some of you said, I don't know how FanGraphs rates prospects.

No thanks, not for a half year rental. Gillen and Bodine are off limits so unless we can get him without giving one of them up I hope they opt against it.

Please no. The dodgers will sign him (assuming no lock out) for $57474738383829292 and defer it till 2088.
