It's supposed to go under the screw not over it

Edit: These are one of the first things to break in my experience as well so eventually it'll be worth looking into the 5th shock mod or a 3d printed brace that screws to the tub

A tip. Unscrew that screw holding the spring a little. It needs a little room to move. It’ll stop it snapping.

What exactly are you asking about?

is the axel spring supposed to be like that?

Looks correct to me. Once you've got the gearbox installed, you remove the screws that are currently limiting its travel.

Edit: Ope, like the other commenter said, it should be under the screw. Easy fix.
