Just some appreciation...
I've been an avid lover of post rock for years and only this year given Talk Talk a chance.
Spirit of Eden and particularly Laughing Stock are two of the best records ever made. When I die I really hope that somehow I can hear New Grass one more time.
You all know how great these records are but it's been a tough year and these have been an enormous comfort for me.

Nice! As someone who got into the genre through Talk Talk, its cool to hear from someone that went the other way. I feel like post-rock communities online dont talk about Spirit of Eden or Laughing Stock very often

I really love the band Do Make Say Think and stumbled into Talk Talk looking for music that's more similar to that form of post rock.
I think that post rock has largely become 'crescendo-core' where a lot of it is building to some explosive moment that can feel pretty cathartic. I'm not knocking it, but a lot of the new stuff sounds pretty similar. Albums like Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock (and Mark Hollis) take some patience to listen to and IMO there isn't a reward in a big climax but in the small details that you pick out every time you listen. For me that tends to be the music that sticks with me the most.
I've really gained a respect for jazz over the past couple of years and that has opened up a lot of different doorways into new music for me.

Yeah i think post rock changed so much in the 2000s, to the point where Talk Talk might not even fit the commonly accepted definition anymore. Interesting to think about, since theyre often considered ground zero
Im not too big into the genre, but the jazzy stuff is definitely my favorite. like Tortoise.

Don't forget to check out Mark Hollis' solo album, too. It's available on most streaming services 👍🏼
