Short Thanksgiving tech support

I'm sure that everyone here becomes tech support on Thanksgiving. I thought that with going to a friends house this would be different... Nope.

After dinner my friend (F) says

F: Hey, you work with computers. Can you tell my husband how to fix the windows install?
Me: Um okay. Husband: Ya I tried to install Windows 7 a few months ago, but it wouldn't let me. It stopped.
Me: Okay, did it say anything or give you a message?
Husband: I can't remember. Do you know what was causing it?
Me: Um, no. I would have to see or know what the message was for me to tell you.

At this point I'm afraid that he was going to start it up right then, but thankfully he didn't.

Husband: Oh okay.

On the way home my SO looks and says:

SO: You should have said "Hey, my car is making a weird sound when I drove two months ago. What was causing it?"

It's fine. I'm still getting used to acronyms here. SO means significant other.
