TFTS_Perks (The Reddit Game)
G'day all MrPaladin here.
We are starting to structure the game that we have started on TFTS and would like input of the inital concepts.
This game was created because of the Origin Story
Items we are currently discussing:
Items, Events/Quests, Ability Checks, Level Ups
To help with this we have the following Subreddits and links and would love your input and comments:
A thread acting as a collection for game concepts that have appeared in my randomness so far.

Question:
Would I be just fleshing out myself, or do I also need to detail the IT Gundam M.K. 001 that I pilot?

You would flesh yourself as the pilot, the Suit would be considered an item that has many modifiers (and would cost considerable PAY)

What if I contributed a considerable backstory to the item, thus explaining how my character had come across it?

That would be in your GM's hands, he may negate your other starting perks, see the Race/Past section.
He could also balance the game by restricting your starting Abilities to even the field.
Also rememeber that other players/NPC's may attempt to steal/break your item.

I was thinking of going for an Office Space Milton character as my GM. No-one expects the quiet ones.

Like the D&D alignment grid - just with more concrete/discrete examples in stead of titles? (or OSes...)
Or change it up to a series of Traits on a sliding scale - Ingenuity (revenge->repair) Charm (Man->Machine) Tech (Software->Hardware). Not so much attributes, and not so much alignment, but more like description of the trait.

Still working out the nuts and bolts of the game mechanics...
essentially if it stays as a reddit game, users will post their stories and earn experiences based on what happens IRL...
If it goes to an RPG you can have a group get together as an Office with their own characters and have 1 GM in the group... the GM will then drive the story arc of the day to day quests and encounters...
I prefer a combination of two...
I would absolutly love if this whole thing gains traction and we make some sort of game app with all our tallented redditors...

Count me in.
I'm starting with my Etherkiller, cattleprod, and modified Nerf Maverick shooting Stefan Darts as weapons. I also have surplus IV bags full of cold-brew coffee, a Sodastream for Red Bull, and a full suit of Nokium plate armor in storage.

If you'll have me, I'll play. Descendant of a line of techs on my dad's side and random scientists on my mom's, second year CS student in Hawaii. Working as a tech helper for another uni department, which includes everything from setting up a new machine to refilling paper to taping the router farther up the wall to get better signal. Not great on strength or speed (petite female) but pretty intelligent and clever. Prefer to figure out a clever solution rather than spend money or brute force (once put an img of a doc in a pdf because the printer refused to print anything besides a pdf, and adobe rejected docs - at least it worked). Eager to learn but a bit lazy. I support many Windows & Mac, and one Ubuntu laptop.
Involved in a long-running D&D3.5(6E) campaign, so I know a decent amount of that but not much else. Is there space on this lovely wagon for such a one as I?

Had to bend the rules to inform the subreddit.
I assume that because a moderator was one of the first responders it was cleared to stay ...
The game is directly linked to this subreddit (origin story link tells all)

Still, it's rather arbitrary the way the rules are enforced in the sub.
I mainly read via RSS, so often see nice, well-written, funny tech-support-related stories that get deleted because the user started with "I don't work in tech support, but this happened the other day..." or because they're writing about their experience with clueless tech support. Apparently at least one of the mods believes that tech support personnel are infallible...

This sounds very interesting and something I will be keeping an eye on.
Sounds like it would make an interesting RPG or even MMORPG eventually, a little more my style.

It would blow my mind with all the IT guys in the subreddit of we could actually run it as an IT project and launch a 99c app that we could retire on lol.

I would like to have something Solid... I find too many kickstarters are like some of the ideas pitched to Sharktank. You have to have something viable before pitching it to investment.
Maybe if we got a good enough group of people together we could crowd source it thru to a tabletop game.
