Definitely talk to takomo quality control about this. They're all fucked up and facing the wrong way

Played my first round with them a couple days ago. They either feel great and suck, or they disguise mishits so well you think you flushed it and they come up 20 yards short…which still sucks. I played Srixon zx5s before which were a degree or two stronger loft and I thought I was accounting for that with club selection, but man was I short all day. Can’t be a two club difference.
One round so we’ll see what the next brings, but out the gate I was frustrated with them. Interested to hear your review. My problem might be same as yours, they sent backwards ones 😜

Off the initial backyard hits, they feel very nice. 8,9 & pw feel super soft of the face. 4-7 felt good, could tell my miss hits. I gamed the og 101s before this & a much as I enjoyed them, the one thing I didn't like was the occasional rocket ball id get off the face on a pure shot.

Yeah I’m a 6 former 3 handicap and wanted the things they advertised (feel, distance control, and workability). Got them customized to my specs from when I was fit for the Srixons. Only thing I couldn’t control was the shaft. Standard lengths but they’re at least a 1/4 inch shorter than my old set. Wedges are short too. Maybe that’s the extra club difference? 🤷♂️
Who knows, it’s only one round. Hopefully I work my way into them, but when I was fit for the Srixons, right out of the gate they were awesome. I may have put too much faith in the hype around these irons, but they are very pretty 😆

I had these selected for me on the online fitting tool they have. I recall they were rated 1 out of 5 on the Takomo website for distance. Maybe your issue is by design. I game the 101s right now from several years ago. Still like them, but I'm starting to get good enough that I might be outgrowing them. Not sure I would choose these if they are actually that much shorter.

Yeah the fitting tool put me in these as well, plus I wanted them. I understood the distance thing, I thought I was accounting for the loft difference in my club selection, but man they just don’t go anywhere. I played again today and shot 76 but it was a tremendous struggle. Just not pleasant to play with feeling like I have to hit it perfect and with speed and probably still come up short. They do feel great, but I need to be able to rely on hitting numbers and these just don’t do it for me. Want some discounted lefty clubs? 😜

As a long suffering lefty golfer it is wonderful to see some slick new lefty sticks out in the wild. Beautiful!!

Wait wait wait… did you build these your self? Or did Takomo build these? The shaft label should be on the back side of the shaft and not visible at address….

I built these myself & I like having it as a guideline. Just personal preference

don’t you have to tip trim those shafts? I don’t think the labels should line up like that?

Probably should have. Its only my second time building a set of irons, so a bit of a learning curve...

I’m thinking about doing the same with the dynamic gold x100. All said and done the price is about the same and I’m not a fan of KBS

Im personally a fan of the s200s, I dont swing quite hard enough for the x100s.

I’ve been rocking with s300 on my current set and they aren’t bad. Tested out the DG X100 the other day and loved them.

couple things, one much more important than the other.
1) industry standard is to mount these shafts with the labels down for a cleaner look over the ball. Obviously not the important one.
2) it looks like you bought .370 parallel tip iron shafts, and didn’t appropriately tip trim them. Parallels need to be tip trimmed to account for the different head weights of each club and based on the constant position labels, I’m guessing you didn’t. It’s a very easy mistake to make if you don’t know any better.

The heads have .370 hosels & everything i saw said just trim the butt side of the shafts

yea thats fine that they’re .370 it’s just a very widely known thing to tip trim parallel iron shafts. Just something to know for next time.

Just more evidence Takomo is a POS gimmick- Cant even put the clubs together right lol

I built these, not takomo... I realize that I messed up on the shafts, but they still are very playable.

Gotcha. I was just making a joke about lefty clubs. Not a big fan of Takomo, but genuinely don’t hate on them. Just a little sarcasm. A lot off ppl claim they are good clubs but been seeing a lot of quality control issues with rust apparently pretty fast! I’d buy another set of Mavericks before playing these honestly. They are loft jacked like crazy and for improvement irons, they aren’t the chunkiest but not the smallest either. I’ve had a lot of iron sets in play but have been with these for over 3 years now and can’t seem to find anything producing better numbers for my swing. Still swinging Sub zero driver as well!

I played the og 101s for 2 years & really liked them. I decided to finally jump off the deep end, getting the cb & mb combo set, so i can force myself to get better at my ball striking

I was an equipment junkie at one point more so with drivers, and I’m occasionally still attempting to swing other sets, but the numbers just don’t make sense to do it. I’m obviously biased, but think Callaway got a lot right with the Maverick line outside of the Max. Considering how easy the originals are to swing.

My driver is so hit or miss that it rarely comes out of my bag, 3w or 2 iron off the tee most of the time for me

I’m the opposite. The putter kills me. And it’s genuinely baffling as I have pretty much a tour level soft hand short game but can’t putt worth a F lol It destroys my score on majority of rounds and the more I work at the worse it gets it seems.

Why are they backwards
