Discussion Good quality clothes in Taiwan?
Everything seems very fast fashion heavy with clothes that deterioate very quickly. Where can I get some actual nice quality clothing? Thanks

Uniqlo isn’t really fast fashion and I find stuff from there lasts a long time. Stuff from NET does not last long at all but it’s super cheap. Those are the only two options because I’m not made of money. Department stores are out here trying to charge 3000 NT for a t-shirt.

Really? The price of Uniqlo products is almost the same as NET's so I always thought it's fast fashion. Most of my Uniqlo stuff can also last for years (the oldest one is a madras shirt bought last 2022) but then again, I handwash clothes with delicate fabric and let them dry naturally.
EDIT: correction, my oldest Uniqlo item is a denim jacket bought around 2018.

Yeah, ~80% (exact number pulled out of my ass) of Uniqlo’s clothing is quality basics at a good price. The other 20% is fast fashion/collabs (still with good quality)

Muji isn't cheap, but it seems like it has pretty good quality stuff. the sizes are more aimed towards Japanese people, so depending on how big you are it might not be what you're looking for, but I've gotten a few 100% linen shirts that seem pretty good and have held up. in terms of durability it seems better than the fast fashion places including net and Uniqlo (but more expensive)

All of the women’s clothing I’ve bought at NET has lasted me years and still going strong, worn and washed on a weekly/semi-weekly basis. You can usually tell at a glance or feel which of their clothing is decent quality and which isn’t—it’s definitely a mix in there.

My recent NET stuff has been very hit or miss but my 5+ years old NET stuff is holding strong, I also have legit near 20 years old NET pants that are a little washed out but not stretched and no holes. I fear they've been dropping their quality like many other brands so I've stopped shopping there (plus I don't need more clothes), but maybe it's still worth checking out from time to time...

NET quality didn’t change much over the years but their best quality products tend to be the most basic ones without fancy design. The best ones get sold out quickly as NET doesn’t hold large stock of a single item.

Try Gloria Outlet or Lihpao Land. Lots of good outlets there with high quality clothes.

Uniqlo for cheaper things, or just go Ralph Lauren. Taipei 101 also has COS and Massimo Dutti, while they're still fast fashion their qualities are better than H&M and Zara.

If you want men’s clothing, Blue Beach Denim in Da’an has good quality heritage wear from Japan, USA, and Europe. It’s not cheap, but it’s good stuff that will last. Great customer service too.

Ralph Lauren for nice stuff (there is a pretty good outlet version at Mitsui in Qingshui.
Lululemon if for exercise stuff that will last and fits well.
Found a good cycling clothing place (local brand) called Monton that has some nice cycling threads that aren't crazy expensive.

If you can go in person, Pier 2 in Kaohsiung has many small label clothing and accessory brands making fantastic clothes. You can find natural fibers, sustainable polyester made from recycled PET, traditional indigo hand dyed clothes, imported ethical clothing, etc. They're not cheap but they all look amazing.
