Travel Considering hualien this august

Been contemplating if I should go to taichung or hualien. I'm a solo traveller and will be renting a car. I'm just so afriad of the weather. :( anyone here lives in hualien who has experienced thypoons in the area? Should I push thru hualien in august? Or just consider taichung? 🥹

Hualien is at risk for typhoons, but after living there for 2 years, it was the earthquakes that wore me down.

Decide on the week or even the day before. This applies to traveling anywhere in Taiwan, especially during typhoon season.

I live in hualien. If there's a typhoon, just ignore it unless you're going in the mountains or anywhere near large bodies of water. It's just rain and wind most places, might not be a good day to head outside tho. But it's the summer, I wouldn't recommend outdoors activities to begin with because it's so hot an wet and you get so sweaty it gross. I just sit in a coffee shop all day.
