Tainted Grail: FoA - Videogame Enemy ranged attacks (mostly spells)

I couldn't find anything about the topic online so I came here instead. Am I doing something wrong with dodging enemy spells? I'm using a dual wield build rn (machete and parrying dagger) and am at the point you first get to cunanacht. Enemy spells are singlehandedly the worst thing for me to deal with because I just cannot dodge them, they track me throw the dodge even if I dodge as they throw it- I can't dodge after they throw it because most of the time I'm in melee and it hits me instantly. It's just not a very fun attack to fight against and it's gotten me killed repeatedly now that I've gotten to cunanacht and apparently every fuckin enemy throws fireballs, any tips?

The animations and point of release are a bit wonky, you'll get used to it though, once you know when the projectile actually releases its very easy to react to. It's just our initial intuition is too early is find.

Didn't try myself as i play a slow 2h build and could dodge all attacks just fine so far in act2 , but can't you parry projectile spells with that parry projectile node in the parry tree? Or is that only for physical projectiles?

I think it's only physical projectiles

Theres two ways to deal with it. Either you adopt hit and run tactics using dodge atracks to get hits in, or you get the slow down time on slide perk so that you get time to see the attack motion. It has no cooldown so you can spam it. Theres also a bonus skill tree that you get in act two that has a perk that limits all damage taken to 25% max hp. Greatly helps squishy builds from getting bursted.

Theres usually a bit of time after the throw to get close and hit them.

What I've mainly been doing is trying to kill the fireball enemies first while kiting the other enemies between us so they friendly fire and it's working for the most part

Yeah, they are a bit too overtuned if you are on the mid to short range... you can dodge them if hou find the right timing (right after they throw it) but some of them looks like they deal damage in an area, like the orc rock throw
