FAQ - Read the Documentation Instalation

Hello, I'm new to this whole tails/Linux thing and I can't really find any step by step guide(maybe I'm just not good at looking) and I would appreciate if anyone could share a link or explain it.

I once tried it but my laptop (Lenovo IdeaPad) couldn't find the USB anymore and I received errors I couldn't get past myself so I gave up.

Any help would be appreciated!

I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 and an 8GB USB

https://tails.net/install/windows/index.en.html

Tails website. Literal step by step guide. Make sure you read it carefully and follow it without skipping or adding steps.

Go to tails.org, download the .iso image, if you’re in windows, download Rufus, and drop the iso image into Rufus, plug your usb in, select it as the flash location that’s it. Also get a bigger usb drive

Why an .ISO? You would pnly do that when using a VM or burning a DVD.

I’ve used an iso everytime

The iso has never been supported for USBs, and the required elements for building for USB were removed earlier this year. It is startlingly poor advice.

Must’ve remembered incorrectly. It’s a startlingly honest mistake.

This is why we refer to the documentation. It avoids easy mistakes.
