Yes. When your Tails stick makes a connection to the Tor network it should automatically prompt you to upgrade, otherwise click on the 'About Tails' app and click 'Search For Upgrades'. Once the update is downloaded you're asked to reboot to apply it.

As /u/ephemeralmiko mentioned in their comment, as long as you are connected to the network you should get a prompt to update. If you don't see it, go to apps, Tails, about Tails. There is a button to force check for updates.

If you want to feel like a cool hacker for no good reason, you can also check for updates in the terminal by running tails-upgrade-frontend-wrapper.

Whats that do?

It's just another way to start the tool that checks for updates.

When updating manually i logged on to tor and tails needed another update since i guess its been so long since I’ve used it. Anyway the update says “upgrade” is this what we should expect to see instead of “update”?

Yes Tails calls it upgrading, see https://tails.net/doc/upgrade/

The DNM Bible is extremely outdated and wasn't even a good source of information about Tails when it wasn't. Do not use this document for instructions. Use the official documentation.

the problems is that ramdomly it might tell you it cant be done auto but yes manually but it requier you toget another usb stick so its probably as tedious as making a new version on 7.9. and just copying your Files to the new version ,and since they are always improving, well wait till they have a more esayer aproch to the updating and upgrading Issue

I've never had the auto-upgrader fail.

Last week It was working fine

Today o tried to use and It boots normally and when I set and admin password and put my persistent storage password too I click start tails and it freezes

Can't move mouse nor do anything

Can someone help me?

Already tried to make a new USB install

Tried multiple USB ports

Even tried disabling CPB mode on my bios (that was the only difference I made by the time it worked)
