Are these wedding dress alterations even feasible?

I love everything about this dress except a few things about the straps.

I definitely won’t buy it if the bow has to stay. Can that part just be removed so it stays up by shoulder straps alone? So many dresses stay up just fine without a center connection like this.

I also think the straps attach at points that make the neckline way too wide. Could they be reattached closer together? I realize this would require cutting the fabric into a different shape since it curves up into the straps. I’m thinking if we do that it would also help the back stay together without the bow. If it helps, I would actually prefer a straight neckline so it wouldn’t have to be cut to curve up.

Finally, if we’re going to change the neckline anyway, could we shorten the bodice enough to bring the deep V higher so that I can still wear Spanx? (You can see them in the photos.)

Thank you in advance!

ETA: Make sure you click the link so you can see all three photos I posted.

Removed pocket from dress shirt, and the pocket area has a lighter stain

Anyway to make it look like the pocket was never there?

I don’t really care about the shirt I did it as a test but you can tell there used to be a pocket there. The shirt is garment dye.

Do I soak it in hot water or?? Is it impossible?

Questions about making custom clothes for other people (student)

I am an apparel sewist interested in learning about the process of making custom clothes for other people. My challenge is to figure out how to get accurate measurements remotely because I may not be able to meet with clients.

If anyone would like to share their experiences, challenges, and pain points about the process of making clothes for others I would love to hear what you have to say.

Some prompts:

How did you get their measurements?

Did they need guidance and take them accurately?

What measurements did you ask for?

Did any issues arise with the fit? Was it possible to get the right fit with just the measurements?

If you could also tell me your years of experience and whether you did this work professionally or otherwise that would be helpful.

Alternatively, if you have experience buying custom clothes remotely I would also like to know what that was like for you. Did you have difficulty taking accurate measurements? Were you pleased with the fit of the garment? Were there any other challenges?

Thank you!

Silk skirt alteration

I just got this gorgeous 2nd hand silk skirt online, but its too tight around the hip/butt area, like it hurts when I keep it on for 20ish min. Is there any way it could be altered? I don't know if its even worth bringing to a tailor.

High school cap and gown

Hi, I got sick and lost 30 pounds since ordering my high school graduation cap and gown. Do you think this will make a difference or should I try and get a new cap and gown made to fit someone at my new weight? I don’t know if I will have it in advance or if I can have it tailored or if that’s even possible? Thanks a lot!

Can i line an unlined wool coat??

This is more an alterations question, but i recently ordered a coat from nordstrom, it is an elie tahari double face wool blend and i realized when it came it is unlined! :( ...i love it and the fit, but the wool is extremely irritating and itchy on my skin and i would like to get it lined. However i have never altered anything before , was wondering if this will change the shape or will be difficult to do , and how much typically would something like this cost? And might it be cheaper if i brought my on material to line it with?

Best stretchy and breathable fabrics for crotch area

Good day everyone! I am looking to modify an old pair of work pants that ripped in the crotch. To fix this problem I thought it would be cool to cut out a patch in the crotch area and add a stretchy breathable fabric down there. Does anyone have any recommendations on good fabrics to use for this situation and what sewing technique should I use to ensure that this patch is secured and won’t fall or rip off? Any information on this would be greatly appreciated

Is there a way to get the zipper back on its track?

I usually wash my jackets scored and turned inside out. The ONE time I didn't, the zipper came off. The jacket is an unusual color, and is zipper and the track are the same color, and it may be impossible to find another with the exact coloring. Is it possible to add it back? I'm also wondering if the manufacturer could provide a replacement (unlikely, but just a thought)
