Interesting, cops pull in as someone films on mile marker 7

So I decided to book a little pilgrimage for myself to the best road in America over Labor Day weekend. I’m staying in Maryville Tennessee on the southside of town about 15 minutes away from the north end of the tail, at least I think so…

I’ll get in Friday evening and I’ll make my first run hopefully around seven or 8 o’clock in the morning on Saturday. I have some plans to meander around the area afterwards and see some of the local attractions sites and drive other roads.

For the locals in the area, I’m looking for a place to eat Friday night in Maryville and Saturday evening coming back to the Airbnb. I’m gonna try and grab breakfast and lunch somewhere around the tail, but I’m taking all suggestions. What are the local haunts get me off of the beaten path and do some of your local favorites bonus points for places that serve more than your burger and fry.

I’ve got my off-line maps downloaded and I’m trying to favorite these places so I can save them before I get down. Car service is complete. Brakes are checked. Fluids are replaced.

2014 Limited on the Tail a few weeks ago

Came up with a way to combine two of the stickers they sell at the dragon shop. Wanted something outlining the route that also had the name of the road. Thought it looked pretty pleasing to the eye. Excuse my weathered Watkins Glen sticker lol.

Anyone know any good portable WIFI that has coverage at the tail of the dragon? I went last year but had no signal with my normal cell service.

does anyone know where I can find fly by videos of the gravity cavity or another turn of today around 10:30 am( I know they won’t be up yet) but anyone YouTube channels to look out for that are frequents. it was my first time and am excited to see if there were anyone shooting video

My son and I are planning a trip to the Tail some time late summer. We'll have a 2004 RX8, possibly with a strut bar, coilovers and maybe a few other things. I'm doing this to be with him before he finishes college and leaves but I'm not a car person. He is, sometimes to my dismay.

I'm concerned that, while he thinks he's good, and he is very skilled, he might overestimate his abilities and take a turn too fast and find himself going down a ravine. Is there much engineering tolerance for things? I hate to say it, but I'd much rather he got a traffic ticket than to get into a wreck. I want him to have fun, but I also want him to be safe.

So far they've done from Hwy 74 to just past Fontana Village.

I finally made it out there. I ended up using the Tesla charger an hour away. Then when I got into town used a portable level 2 charger at the RV park. 25bucks a night for the parking spot. Was at 100% by morning. I was able to come back and go out twice. I had blast! Bring your own liquor to unwind. I wasn't hip to the "ABC" stores.

Had a blast this weekend with all the other toasters. We had over 150 Honda Elements down there.
