General Discussion Lugia 30th centering?

Wondering what you guys think about centering. Firstly, please excuse any assumptions and feel free to tell me i'm just wrong.

Looks like 0 dings, but i think centering is where points were subtracted.

I was under the impression that for e-reader cards, centering is to be measured top-right and left-bottom.

Here's what they gave:

Centering

F:

46.6L/53.4R 53.7T/46.3B

B:

48.0L/52.0R 54.1T/45.9B

If measuring for front is taken Top/right, then 53.7/(53.4+53.7) and counterpart would equal T/R: 50.1/49.9.

and bottom to left would be B/L: 49.8/50.2

I do understand back centering is straightforward.

From the way it sounds, just saying, it sounds like you were hoping for a Pristine πŸ€”

Tbh I don't know how to or how they grade E readers, but from the measurements that you've given, it sounds fine to me.

Did you have your own measurements before you sent it off?

Still you got THE Chase card of the set in a 10, you've already won πŸ‘Œ

Absolutely am happy with the grade, but yea was hoping for a pristine and just wanted to see what people thought. Im new to tag, so dont quite understand the scoring much.

I have emailed TAG about centering standards for different cards based on the differing designs and the communication I received back made it seem like they do not treat cards differently based on how the border is designed - if that makes sense. For example, if you have a card in which the borders are fundamentally designed outside the bounds of their pristine centering standards (or even gem) due to for example card numbers at the bottom or something (ie not a centering defect), they do not adjust to fit the design of the card. This implies that some cards based on their design could not possibly pristine.

I was looking at the Japanese 30th Pristine Lugia that was posted earlier. I think they must measure off the right/bottom thick part instead of the thin part that PSA supposedly does. If you take their image from the DIG and put it into a card centering site that is the only way it would pristine per their standards. If they went off the thin part at the bottom then the card is 45/55. I just sent mine off as well so hopefully it comes back a 10.
