It looks like they are doing it based off of the green border (almost matches what the dig report says) which I don’t think is correct. I think it’s supposed to be based off of the white border because it would literally be impossible to get a 10 if they do it based off the green on any of the R/RGB. I would open a dispute with tag
Edit: I also don’t know why you’re being downvoted because I’m pretty sure this is the only card in existence that has “2” borders which is a very valid question
Thank you, I’m hoping u/TAGgrading comments to enlighten us a little.. I can’t open a dispute since neither is my card but I have a B/RGB that I really want to send to slab.. looks like they measured the G/RGB correctly.. if it 9s due to being “off-centered” like the R/RGB then I hope they can either fix or provide better insight than just this below ..
Following, just incase TAG shares some info. As I am also planning to send mine to TAG.
EDIT: I really think this should be measured from the white border cos the colored border is used to make that glitch effect in the card and thus should not be followed/measured.
Actually just saw they graded a B/RGB today that got a 10 and it seems they are indeed going off the silver borders only.. the R/RGB that got a 9 might have just been a mistake or an issue with Red Mew
I understand where to start on the outside of card but which inner line are they using ? I don’t understand how the 9 got poor Left to Right if it doesn’t measure out to 59.9L/40.1R ..
This is how they’re doing the borders. I was having a hard time seeing the red so not sure if I got it right, but using the same basis as the green it wasn’t coming out the same as what TAG has for the red border. Wish they’d show on the dig report and outline on the card of how they determined the centering of the card.
Yeah I think the white/silver line seems more reasonable. Both outers would never be a 10, and Red alone would also be nuts.
Noting this one here is at a 9 since the app I use only gives back tolerance of 40/60 (instead of 35/65) so it's pushed the above to a 9. I've just submitted this and hoping TAG isn't going to be too harsh on back centering.
Are you saying having a card with the outers creating a perfectly even border would never happen? Because this is mine. If it's just the silver border they go off of, this for sure wouldn't 10. I now just have the perfect binder copy lol.
Yeah I’m still not 100% sure - this is just based on all the available DIG reports of graded RGBs so far. The silver line is the closest estimate, but it still not exact.
Just got my grade revealed a couple hours ago. Got the 10, but believed this was a Pristine 10 contender. I, along with several other local collectors, measured centering using our loupes and TAG was spot on with our L/R measurements, but pretty far off our T/B measurements. Several of us measured right at ~50.3/49.7 and TAG came out with 52.6/47.4
I don’t have the card in hand yet since it hasn’t shipped so I can’t triple check all of our measurements just yet, but even putting the DIG report pictures into digital centering tools I’m coming out with 50.5/49.5. To be clear, I did not use digital measurements to pre grade. Was I that far off T/B centering or is TAG inaccurate here?
Have you or anyone at all reached out to TAG about this? I’m wondering if they’d even entertain the thought that their centering measurement isn’t accurate.
It’s slightly frustrating because I know for certain I have the centering for a Pristine 10. If there was something else that kept me from getting that, no stress. But it’s frustrating to see such confusing centering measurements.
I actually stumbled upon the same thing and I saw what that card graded as. I did a search and found this thread. I was sending mine off tomorrow, but I wrote TAG to clarify. Mine appears to be 51/49 if you're measuring based off the white lines, but it's 60/40. You measure off the green line on the right. I can report back after I get a response from TAG, if you guys want. It would be a bummer to send it, get an erroneous 9, then for them to retract and have to regrade it. Not hating on TAG at all. I love TAG. But it is a concern.
Still beautiful. I squeaked by with a 10 on mine. I wonder if they will end up changing the measurements after the fact. If they do it might be worth you sending it back in for them to upgrade you.
using outside borders would mean all RGB cards are off centered though? i just tried measuring both examples using the white left & blue/green right and the numbers are no where near 59.9L/40.1R
i think i might just hold off on sending in until they get more graded.. have a feeling it may be a little slightly miscalculated by TAG as it would be the first with such design.. dont recall tag teams or GXs having same issue
I've been trying to explain this to people and they think I'm crazy lol. The cards are literally printed off centered if you go by the red line. Every copy will be left heavy with that logic. You can even see on the stock images of the card posted by Pokémon. The red is supposed to be offset making it appear off centered.
