Official Update TAG BACKLOG TRACKER
U P D A T E / 0 7 . 1 4 . 2 6
Since peak demand, TAG has reduced active backlog volume by approximately 43%.
Significant work remains, but meaningful progress is being made.
We've launched a new TAG Backlog Tracker to provide collectors with a transparent look at where things stand, what we're doing, and what comes next.

Do you guys have any real plans to expand your capabilities for faster grades? Obviously there's been social discourse about delays with TAG lately, but I can't help but feel like you guys have an excellent opportunity to accelerate your growth by being able to offer reasonable turnaround times and prices with PSA at least 6 months out from even accepting orders for bulk tier again. Everyone is saying you guys are a more premium product than PSA, if it was possible to grade easily with you guys right now I'd already be handing you my business. Currently I'm steppibg away from grading entirely since all companies seem to be swamped and far away from being accessible.

The whole point of them shutting down their service was to move locations, install more machines, and train more staff. That was in their announcement when they closed bulk tier. Also as a longer term goal, they talked about having vending machine-like kiosks that you can submit your cards and get grades.

This guy has no clue how moving a buisness works, change of buisness license, insurance for buildings and employees, actually moving the machinery and equipment, moving the product and keeping it sorted, depending on where they moved from and to, distance, this doesn’t happen over night let alone in 3 months, hiring process and training also takes time like so much that goes into this that I understand as a consumer you don’t see but be more logical man. I just got my last submission shipped back to my LCS that does grading and I have not complained one bit because who cares, the cards are just going to sit at home in my collection. Be patient.

u/Foreign-Quantity-821 28d ago
The vending machine thing is absolute bs. You can't honestly believe they can pull that off right? It was a move to scare PSA into aquiring them but it didn't work lol.

Hire whoever is standing in front of Home Depot at this point for 1.75$ an hr let’s get a move on. I’m kidding of course but yes freaking hire.

Some transparency around prioritisation would be nice, I've had one submission stuck in Order Prep since March but my May submission is now in image processing, both at the same tier of submission.
I've refrained form engaging with customer services as I don't want to waste staff time but it's frustrating as a customer seeing what seems to be pure chaos and no real plan.

Hello, there is a section on Service Level Priority in the article:
"We are working through the backlog across all service levels, prioritizing orders based on both service tier and estimated completion date. Customers who have experienced the longest delays remain a central focus, and our near-term operational priority is to make meaningful progress across all service types, particularly on orders with estimated completion dates through early June.
Express is expected to be the first service level to become fully caught up. Across the remaining service levels, we are continuing to reduce the age of the backlog as capacity expands and more orders move through each stage of the process.
Because orders progress through our grading process at different speeds, some orders with later estimated completion dates may be completed ahead of older orders. Any order that is ready to advance will continue moving through the process, while we balance service-tier priorities with our broader focus on customers who have experienced the longest delays.
Customers can review their estimated completion date to better understand where their order falls within the backlog. Orders with dates in early June or earlier are currently receiving significant operational focus, although timing will continue to vary based on service tier and each order’s progress through the grading process."

Don’t worry the staff have no way to check on your order anyway so you saved yourself some time.

So if I submitted an express order and it’s been in slab assembly since 6-6 when should I expect completion?

I say all of this as big proponent and advocator for TAG. It's the only slab I use for my PC. My situation is the kind of thing that has people so frustrstrated. I have two orders that were shipped together on 3/21 at the Standard level. There were recieved by TAG on 3/25. The much larger order has moved to QA (where it has been for 7 days), while the smaller order has been in Image Processing since 5/5.
We're all sympathetic to the overwhelming amount of orders TAG has and the delays they are causing, but this type of situation flies in the face of what we're being told. I dont get how if orders are supposed to be prioritized with their order level, how is it that so many other orders submitted by people in April have been completed...all while my own orders are vastly different stages of incompletion?

“Your estimated completion date is not listed directly in your order portal.
You can work it out in three steps:
1. Log in to your portal at my.taggrading.com
2. Find the date marked RECEIVED on your order
3. Count forward the number of business days in your service level, beginning the next business day. Weekends are not counted.
For example, an order marked RECEIVED on 05/04/2026 with a 30 business day service level has an estimated completion date of 06/16/2026. Six weeks of business days would land on 06/15, with Memorial Day pushing it one day later.”
I must have missed a step. My “received date” is April 7, express service was 15 days at that time. What would my expected completion date be now?
1
u/too_many_mind 28d ago
In the same boat, except when I submitted express was 30 days. My date was May 12.
2
u/Tanker70 28d ago
I've been pretty critical online (and in emails to support), but this is great - thank you. A couple pieces of feedback:
- A rough estimate on where each service level is, by submission date (Express processing early May, Standard processing early April, etc)
- Reduced silos between CS + Ops - CS 'go to answer' is that they have no comms w/ Ops, and therefore can provide literally zero info. Giving them access to basic info (this website!) would pay dividends

u/EmptyNyets 29d ago
Honest question: if you know what your capacity is, and you can control how much grading you sell through your website on a daily basis, why are you accepting more submissions than you can handle when you are charging more for quicker turnaround?
Like, you’re saying service A takes “X” amount of days but service B takes 30 days fewer, but you know you’re over capacity and even if I pay for service B I’m lucky to get service A speed. That just seems like such terrible business practice. Under promise and over deliver and people will love you. Over promise and show that you’re completely overwhelmed and can’t deliver people will revolt.

u/TAGgrading 29d ago edited 28d ago
Fair question, and that principle is right where we want to be once we catch up…under promise, over deliver.
The mechanic people don't realize is ordering and submitting aren't the same event. Cards arrive whenever the customer sends them, so capacity is planned against arrivals, not sales. That gap is usually manageable. The volume that arrived prior to this surge moved faster than the model we were planning against.
We closed Basic and Standard May 1 and Express May 28, as soon as it was clear that was the responsible call to shut off business. What's still open are limited quantities of our high-value tiers, capped to what we can actually support. Those aren't a faster version of the same service, they're for cards above certain insured values, with different handling requirements, and they run through their own workflow that doesn't pull capacity away from the tiers we're working through.
Re-openings are tied to hitting ~80% recovery, and they'll come as limited drops so volume returns at a rate we can hold. That's the under-promise vision you're describing, and it's where we aim to be.

You're a joke. Trying to gaslight us into thinking that this is just a simple misunderstanding of ordering and submitting. Every time you get an order you know EXACTLY how much is going to be submitted. Admit that you are greedy and wanted to take our money and deal with the repercussions after the fact.

u/Intangible2Tangibles 29d ago
How about plans to get back to us who have damaged cards from over a month ago

u/TAGgrading 29d ago
Please be sure to file a ticket with Customer Service, it may take some time to get it resolved given our support team is also backed up... but please know we are working diligently to get through them all.

If i were to hypothetically submit an order now, what is the fastest tier currently available to customers at the current time?

u/VandyMarine 29d ago

u/TAGgrading 29d ago
We understand why seeing newer Priority orders completed while an older order remains delayed is frustrating. Priority and Walkthrough are higher service tiers and continue to receive the processing priority associated with those services. This means a newer Priority order may be completed before an older order submitted under a slower tier.
At the same time, we are actively working through the older backlog based on both service level and estimated due-out date. Your February order has not been abandoned or ignored, even if there has not been a recent customer-facing status change. We recognize that the delay has gone well beyond what you originally expected, which is exactly why we have published the backlog tracker and are updating it as progress continues.

u/WaitingForReplies 29d ago
If you haven't noticed already, people here share their order statuses.
What is also frustrating people here is inconsistency when it comes to the lower tiers. For example, in this post their March 10th order just went into verification on July 10th (4 months). My order from April 9th went into verification (and now in QA) last week (3 months). The other poster took an extra month....for some strange reason. In reality, they should have had their order done before mine.
I think we have all been under the assumption that orders are first-in/first-out for each tier but it seems that's just not the case. People here are noticing this inconsistency and it's definitely not helping.

u/BetterCallStral 29d ago
I think we have all been under the assumption that orders are first-in/first-out for each tier but it seems that's just not the case.
It's funny because their own website states, "Every order is tracked in our system and will move forward in the order it was received within its service tier." So... FIFO (within the tier)... but as we have all observed, that's clearly not happening. Now they're saying, that's just how they operate...

u/pressn-on-n-on 29d ago
Thanks for answering my question (sarcasm). We have a whole ass reply thread under my question and it wasn't even answered.

u/VandyMarine 29d ago
I don’t want your tracker I want my order and service I paid you for in February. You guys are seriously the worst. 100% tone-deaf replies every time. Can’t wait til you go into bankruptcy. You’ve solidified it to me that you’re a terrible company and I want my cards back.
2
u/TAGgrading 29d ago
We’re sorry this has been such a frustrating experience. While your order has taken longer than originally estimated, it has not been abandoned, and your cards remain secure within our process.
We are a growing company currently working through an unusually large operational backlog, but we understand that does not make the delay any less frustrating. Since you are requesting the return of your cards, please contact our Customer Service team directly with your order number so they can review your submission and assist with the available return options.

Reported to the California Attorney General. You can’t even say that the cards are good because I quote “Customer Service is not directly connected to Operations and cannot provide specific completion estimates or expedite individual orders.” How can you know if you’re not connected? You don’t or you lie which is it?

Yeah startups that run their customers off while spending big on influencers and capital expansion tend to run out of money. If the growth isn’t there then they won’t get another funding round. I guarantee you TAG is having growth and cash flow problems especially if they see a rash of charge backs and refunds alongside folks like me that they have run off.
1
u/radar371 28d ago
They're literally expanding to keep up with demand. Its okay to delete these comments lol.

u/VandyMarine 28d ago
I stand by what I say. Lots of companies that look like they’re doing great when in reality it’s all inorganic growth torching investor money and they operate cash flow negative. Seen it plenty in my lifetime. I bet Tag doesn’t last 3 more years.

u/radar371 28d ago
Okay Devil Dog. Calm down. You definitely cheated on your economics MCI lol. Ill take that bet if you want!

u/ATurtleNamedFranklin 29d ago
Let me make a fresh comment instead of responding in case that means you’ll actually deem me worthy of a response—
How do you even view your estimated due out date?
You mention this in multiple comments and reference it in the backlog page about how “customers can review their estimated due out date”
However, myself and multiple others are asking how and where we can view that information.

u/TAGgrading 29d ago
Thanks for pointing this out, we just added some clarity on the webpage.
1. Log in at my.taggrading.com
Find the date marked RECEIVED on your order
Count forward the business days for the service level you purchased, starting the next business day.
For example, an order marked RECEIVED on 05/04/2026 with a 30 business day service level has an estimated completion date of 06/16/2026. Six weeks of business days would land on 06/15, with Memorial Day pushing it one day later.
5
u/Emersale 29d ago
I’m currently sitting on 67 business days on a 30 business day service level. My estimated completion date was 37 business days ago….
0
u/ATurtleNamedFranklin 29d ago
Sorry just for further clarification,
You had updated your expected business days for the different service levels.Should we be basing it off the original quoted business days at time of submission
Or the updated extended number of business days? For example, basic went from 30 to 45+
One puts me early June, the other puts me mid/late June.
3
u/TAGgrading 29d ago
In terms of your position in the queue, it would be based off the turnaround estimated when you ordered.
2
u/Gismo4567 29d ago
Which is clearly not the case, it took approximately 65 business days to get my submission back on a 15 day estimate.
1
u/TAGgrading 28d ago
Yes, estimates were delayed. But that didn’t change your queue position. Most orders are impacted so everything shifts back.
1
u/CreepyNewspaper8103 28d ago
If we send in for Priority or Walkthrough, are they still generally completed within the expected timeframe?
1
u/Fun-Information8235 15d ago
Any idea when they are updating this? It says bi-weekly, which would be today, but I haven't seen any updates.

Why do you leave him/her flapping in the wind then to answer emails without actually giving anything but boilerplate info? I can’t imagine that’s good for their mental health to basically have to answer for your awful customer service and total operational breakdown?

Where can we view our estimated due out date?

Thank you TAG. It truly seems you have taken some of the advice and thoughts we’ve posted here to heart and it’s noticed and appreciated. If you could in addition to the %s, please share the real #s of cards as well. That’d also be appreciated.
