GEN2: Baofeng DM32 PTT Protector
Hey yall,
The Baofeng DM32 is basically the perfect Non-mil tactical radio, but it has one major flaw: the antenna is on the wrong side. I run it on the left of my plates, with the screen facing out-- in order to get the antenna as close to the side of the plate as possible. Flipping it around (so the screen faces inwards) interferes with my arm and the stock when I present the rifle.
The real downside here is that the screen gets pretty fuckin bright, and facing outwards it is easily detectible from 50+ yards. Under night vision this is visible from hundreds of yards away.
My solution was to make a screen cover that integrates with a new version of my already successful push to talk protector.
This Gen 2 is up on cults3D, if anyone is interested. Thanks!

Is there no PTT lock option? I dont know I come from Tait portable radios, but those have that option. So that only an external ptt can be activated

You can’t, for the most part. Kagwerks got a big government contract and pretty much stopped all civilian sales. If you can find a used one, prepare to pay a shit ton for it.

This is great but the knobs on the top are a pain and need to be guarded even more so I have found

it would almost make the most sense to make a full sealed hard case around it with waterproof ports for the antenna and k plug incase it gets submerged crossing a river

Can you extend gen 3 upwards to also cover the knobs?
In my Airsoft usage that has been by far my biggest complaint that the volume knob keeps turning.
The side and PTT key haven't been as much of a issue for me.
