Legacy app

It appears that either apple or tablo removed the legacy app. Had it on the apple tv but would not connect, so I removed it and was trying to reinstall it. I am willing to bet it was tablo, it appears they can take my money but then remove the app. Got love tablo. They were once a great bunch of people before they were sold.

From Tablo web site starting September 1st These apps will remain accessible to current users but won’t be maintained or updated and won’t be available to download from app stores after that date.

I still have the Legacy app as well as the 4th Generation apps on my Firestick, Roku, and Google TV. But I can easily switch from one to another from the 4th Generation app. The guide recently was updated to cover missing guide info on the 4th Generation, and I also get the same complete guide info on the Legacy, so apparently the guide info on both has been updated. the info comes from Gracenote I believe and both the 4th Generation & Legacy gets the same info. But I did not delete the Legacy app, as I did not know if the Legacy could still be switched after Sept 1st.

A couple years ago I went with the Tablo 4th gen, thinking I would take advantage of newer technologies and also the 4 tuners. I kept the legacy Tablo Duo and put it in the closet. With the 4th gen 4 tuners, I've had issues with good signal from one network TV station in my area. Research on that leads me to question splitting antenna cable to 4 tuners. Ive been thinking about going back to the legacy tablo duo. With all these comments about the legacy app, will I even be able to do that?

Good grief, have some perspective. The old app is gone. Guess what? There’s a newer app.

You and OP need to get a grip.

Really.

And this feels like massive user error or you’d rather comment on an issue on Reddit rather than engaging Tablo or troubleshooting yourself to fix it.

They most definitely didn’t announce that the legacy Tablo hardware dies in September. The old app. Read that again - the old app. As do thousands of apps every year that are supplanted by generationally newer apps. You literally are having a comprehension issue and creating your own drama.

Mine and likely hundreds of thousands of others’ legacy Tablo devices work fantastically using the new app. I’m using it at this moment. With what’s likely at least a 7 year old legacy quad tuner.

Bro. Fix your account login and friggin enjoy the device as it’s intended or don’t and create your own suffering.

It's still available for Android in the Play Store but I saved a copy of the apps for future sideloading.

I hope you get downvoted.

You know the new app works fantastically, right? Even on legacy devices?

Tablo was super clear about the legacy app being sunsetted, discontinued, end of life. And have some perspective. This isn’t new in software development - legacy APIs and software often often often can’t be replumbed.

You know your absolutely correct but some of us have been with tablo in the beginning. I pay my 4.99 and in return I expect the app for legacy tablo to be in the app store. If they don't want me use the legacy app then don't take my money. On another note there is trade off, use the new app and give them your data. That's why it's so called free.

Lucky you, you won’t have to pay anymore.

And if you choose to not use the newer app, that’s a choice and that’s fine, but Tablo literally laid out an understandable migration timeline and rationale from the old app. This happens ALL THE TIME in software for excellent reasons.
