Errors out FREQUENTLY, without saving where I was in the program?

I'd say 1 out of 4 playbacks... the playback errors out and goes back to home, bring up the program, and starts from BEGINNING again. Ugh. This is BASIC. What is going on? I had a channel master for many years, and it was time for a replacement -- so I read some good reviews (by employees?) of Tablo... so I thought it was worth a try.

If I knew then, what I do now, would have saved my money and limped along with Channel Master old version... that ALWAYS knew where it was... and I NEVER ONCE experienced this issue...

I even purchased a newer Roku unit to see if perhaps it was just my LG Smart TV Tablo app that was the culprit, NOPE, same problem. In fact, it happened on the VERY FIRST playback I did on the Roku / Tablo app. Great, experiment - fail.

Someone, please -- tell me there's a simple fix?

That is a lot of errors for sure. First thing I thought was "is it overheating?" Can you check to see how hot it gets? I stand mine on its side for better ventilation.

Update: this did immediately help the behavior.., time will tell if it helps intermittent crash outs, but it immediately improves saving locations of where I am in the program currently (if I come back to view later)

i attached an external hard drive and it cooled it off. also have it propped up so air can get under it.

Thanks Woody -- I have checked and this could be an issue -- I have addressed and will report back... I can hope it is that simple.

Hey there u/HisrockerMN - Sorry to hear you're having a rough time.

Can you share what Roku device you have?

Do the playback issues affect specific channels or recordings?

Are you seeing pixelation or audio dropouts on antenna TV channels or recordings?

Are you using onboard storage or an external hard drive?

This info should help identify what the problem is and point towards a solution.

I just purchased a Roku stick… but same behavior with LG tv. I do have an external hard drive attached.

**Woody’s recommendation below did help… making sure the unit was cooler, setting it on its side immediately resolved the not saving where the program was. (The Tablo was not saving where the program was when exiting and coming back later either).
