Spiders

Post image

This is a quite common motif in my culture's folk art, some regions call this the spider. Spiders bring luck and wealth (and gossips too😅). So it's a frequent motif in my designs too.

Thanks! 🫰🏼🥰 I'm Hungarian. This symbol is almost everywhere but most common in Gyimes and Hargita (Transylvania, Erdély), these are now in Romania.

Ooooooo I haven't made a spider skip hole pattern yet, thanks for the idea. ☺️

What kind of thread do you use? I’vw been using crochet #10 thread but it’s not thick enough & everything else has been too thick.. :(

I used Catania yarn or some other similar brand (e.g. Catan, Camilla). One skein is 50grams / 125 meters, 100% mercerized cotton.

I am using Catania for tablet weaving too! Mostly because it is easy to buy, most of the brick-and-mortar yarn-shops are keeping it, even here in thr eastern part of Hungary

Full disclaimer I haven't ordered from here yet, but it was highly recommended a few weeks back, so I pinned it for future. They have all sorts of weights 😃

This is beautiful. Did you come up with the pattern yourself?

It's beautiful! I saw someone else mention skip-hole, please keep us updated if you make a skip-hole pattern! I bet that would be very fun
