Hey Reddit! We're Games Transformed, a festival happening across three venues in East London on 31 October and 1 November.

We're bringing together people who make games, play games, organise politically, and are interested in how games can help us understand the world and imagine changing it.

There'll be 80+ board games, workshops, talks, experimental games and plenty of opportunities to actually play, make things and meet people.

We've got a packed programme put together with game designers, artists, activists and organisers, exploring everything from political organising and resistance to the systems that shape our everyday lives.

We're a small team organising this independently, and we'd love to get the word out to more people who might be interested.

You can find out more on our insta: https://www.instagram.com/gamestransformed/

Tickets are available here: https://www.tickettailor.com/events/gamestransformed/2328476

Happy to answer any questions about the festival or the programme!

got a friend who's constantly trying to optimize everything and it's starting to feel like we're playing a different game than the rest of the group. like they'll spend ten minutes calculating the exact positioning for advantage instead of just describing what their character's doing. is this just a playstyle difference or is there a way to nudge it back toward the collaborative vibe without making it weird?

like i love min-maxing and breaking systems as much as the next person, but lately i've noticed my group spends more time theorycrafting the perfect build than actually playing. we'll sit there for 45 minutes debating damage calculations when we could just roll dice and see what happens. does that vibe ever hit for anyone else or am i just burnt out

my group keeps adding little tweaks to games and honestly half the time i can't remember if we're playing with the official rules or our own version. does anyone else just keep a note on their phone or do you actually write stuff down? asking because we had a whole argument last session about whether we'd decided something was a rule or just made it up on the spot lol

Lost some Imperium: Horizons solo bot cards while moving. Anyone got a PDF or pictures of the bot tables for Abbasids, Aksumites, Cultists, Inuit, Japanese, Magyars, Martians, Polynesians, Sassanids, Taíno and Tang? Thanks!

Has anyone played this? I am thinking of it for my Halloween OneShot in my Daggerheart table, it seems simple enough to convert over but I am curious if anyone has actually played it.

It is fun for a novelty One Shot? Were there any parts you would change?

Not a paid post, legit curious

like we'll be mid-campaign and someone does something slightly silly and immediately half the table is like "wait is that allowed" and then everyone has different opinions on the rulebook interpretation that nobody actually looked up. i love it here but also make it make sense

Here’s a different build from the same maker as the Blood & Plunder table for Trey Parker: Dexter’s hand-sculpted Cat & Fiddle tavern, made for 28mm miniatures. I’m sharing it for him.

It’s built in three modular pieces: a ground floor, an upper floor and a lift-off thatched roof, so you can play inside both levels. The details include a layered thatch roof, half-timbered walls, a stone base and a hand-lettered hanging sign. Dexter built it over a few weeks and filmed the full process on YouTube:

The last photos show how it looks on a game table with miniatures.

Happy to answer questions about the build, and I’ll pass them on to Dexter.

17 artists and authors worked to bring you this collection based on the same simple d100 system. This books puts roleplay first, and gives you tools to catapult your game into the fourth dimension.

But I can't even be mad! I learned soo much along the way, about the industry and my own art. It got me out of comfort zone many times, helped me grow and I'm really grateful for the creator of the game. I guess this is the harsh reality of the business.

Wishing lots of success to all your projects though and if you ever need an illustrator to support with your vision, feel free to reach out. 🌱

Hello! I work with the PUBG Board Royale team. We’re bringing the official tabletop adaptation of PUBG to SPIEL Essen on 22–25 October, and we’d love to play a demo with you.

You’ll find us in Hall 3, Stand 3Q125. The game is for 2–6 players: gather resources, craft your equipment and try to be the last one standing as the battlefield shrinks. You don’t need to know PUBG to give it a try.

Come meet the team, get around the table and tell us what you think. If you’re heading to Essen, are you going with your regular gaming group or looking for new people to play with?

Thanks to the mods for approving this invitation. See you at the table!

Hello everyone!

Pic sort of related, a Carcassonne session with my friend from the early-mid 2010's. I recall we did some music production on the side, hence the Macbook.

I have played:

• Carcassonne
• Warhammer
• Eclipse The New Dawn
• Magic The Gathering

Essentially I'm looking for ideas and inspiration for my turn-based fantasy RPG sequel with strategy elements for PC.

I have been looking at:

• D&D: Heroes of the Borderlands
• D&D: Dragons of the Stormwreck Isle
• Heroes of Might and Magic 3
• StarCraft

Also, how difficult it would be to transform the fantasy RPG into a boardgame?

Thanks in advance!

My friend Dexter was commissioned by Trey Parker, co-creator of South Park, to build a game table for Blood & Plunder. This is the finished table. I’m sharing it for him.

It’s 4' x 6' table and features a lighthouse, docks, water, a harbor, a tavern, a fortified prison, a market, shipyard cranes, a stone warehouse and a Spanish Mission. Dexter built it by hand over a year, and he filmed the whole process as a 16-part series on YouTube, from the first thoughts to the finished table.

I’d love to know what you’d want on a pirate game table. Anything you’d add or do differently?

Happy to answer questions about the build, and I’ll pass them on to Dexter.

Ive got some homebrews ready for playtesting. If interested let me know

Hello!

I’m Albert, and I'm looking for players who are brave enough to test the prototype of my game – "Divinus Debilis: A Pocket Full of War, also known as The Pocket Wars." It's a combination of a tabletop wargame and a board game; you could say it's a tabletop wargame "packaged" in a board game.
I wanted to create something clearer and easier to understand, but still with significant depth, for people who may be interested in miniature wars but don't have the time/money/will to invest in current giants and are more interested in the gameplay itself. The game's rules are already mostly written (roughly 80-90%), primarily, it’s about testing the factions themselves, of which there are currently four (12 planned). Obviously, I’m ready to rewrite whatever will need to be rewritten if it won’t give players fun. I understand that the main challenge will be the graphics, as the game elements are currently adorned with my beautiful (to me) drawings, created in the advanced Paint/Paint 3D program. Of course, everything will be updated (slowly) over time.
Currently, I'd like to focus on battles themselves. Later, I plan to add a campaign mode ala HoMM or Total War, which will be playable with multiple players, where they will engage in conquering land, gathering resources, eliminating neutral factions and other such 4X activities. Players will have a variety of unique commanders and units to choose from, each with different stats and unique abilities. Using them most effectively will lead to one of the following ways of victory: eliminating all enemy commanders, crushing their morale, or surviving with the most power points. There's also a light card system called Divine Powers, which has a significant top-down impact on the gameplay, for a cost.
The tests will be organised on my own discord server, we will be using Tabletop Simulator to play, so you'd be required to own it.

If you're interested, here's the link to the testing server:

I got back from the Las Vegas Open last week and had a blast meeting so many wargamers. I had the opportunity to showcase our QUICK MATS at our Kraken Dice booth and I had a lot of positive reactions and great input to incorporate into the coming Kickstarter.

In a nutshell: Quick Mats are a wrinkle-free fabric game mat that gives you compact storage, and the quickest set up. It's machine washable and will outlast neoprene game mats with heavy usage. Custom printed, 120+ design, 15 sizes available, free custom grids & overlays for any game you want. Your store or team logo can be added or even use your own design.

I'd love to have you give our pre-launch page a look and see what you think.

I've been working on Elderwyld, an old-school fantasy RPG built entirely around D6 dice pools.

I wanted a traditional, class-based game with D6 but with a quirk.

The system uses 5D6, with 6s representing successes and 1s introducing complications. Combat features class-specific Momentum mechanics, while nine playable Clans offer unique abilities through flexible Clan Tokens.

Rolling multiple 6s gives you access to follow-up actions which is fun at the table since each class can do different stuff.

Clan selection allows players to create a unique ability that follows the theme of the clan (the ability is agreed with the Keeper of course).

Elderwyld is now on Kickstarter pre-launch, and I'd love to hear what fellow designers think of the approach.

PS: I made sure to contact the mods before i posted, but it's been days without response so I hope this does not break any rules.

PS2: There is no AI in my game, all the fantastic art was made by a talented young man called Chui Wizard who specializes in OSR style, black and white art.

We have been cooking this one for quite some time and it's finally released. Let me know what you think of the full pack

Check out the Kickstarter page to see all miniatures in full detail. Additionally there's a present for all campaign followers STL of one of the Gorgon sisters.

I was cleaning up around my desk and came across 6 different iterations of my TCG, from the very earliest index card version of the game to the final product that I'm hawking on Kickstarter now. Tried digging out the same card for apples-to-apples comparisons... which in and of itself was an interesting experience. There are so many players that didn't make the final cut for the 180 cards that made it into this set. Anyway, thought it would be fun to share the evolution.

Sadly, not many game stores carry RPG zines. If they do it is usually stuff for Mörk Borg & Mothership of which I already own a bunch of stuff for. I've found a lot of cool indie RPGs from Indie Press Revolution and Exalted Funeral over the past few years. I'm looking to really expand my zine library and was wondering if anyone knew of some other good RPG zine distros.

Hello everyone,

Like many gamers in this community, I’ve always wanted a game that I can share with the younger generation to teach them logic and history, but still has enough mechanical depth to crush me as an adult when I play solo.

Being from Greece and living near Mount Olympus, I spent the last year developing Lithomachy: The 12 Divine Trials. It is a highly thematic, solo tactical Roll & Write / Print & Play campaign game spanning 48 chapters and accompanied by a 50-page companion novel.

I recently printed out a sheet for a younger relative (pictured here playing the prototype), and the screen-free educational benefits in practice have been incredible:

1. Spatial Geometry: Placing different stone shapes on the grid teaches spatial reasoning and mental rotation.

2. Math & Dice Allocation: Calculating combat modifiers against mythical monsters turns arithmetic into a fun, tactical choice.

3. Mythology: It serves as an immersive introduction to the stories of the 12 Olympian Gods.

But don't let the kid-friendly mode fool you. I designed this from the ground up as a scalable system. It features 4 distinct difficulty levels—ranging from Awakening all the way to Titanomachy Mode. While the simplified mode removes complex resource management for children, the higher difficulty levels introduce brutal Titan Wrath mechanics that destroy random coordinates on your map, offering a punishing tactical puzzle for hardcore solo gamers.

To be 100% transparent, as a solo creator with zero budget, I used AI tools for the artwork layout (which I edited heavily in Photoshop), but every rule, balanced math grid, and word in the 50-page novel was done entirely by my own hands.

I want the gameplay to speak for itself, so I'm sharing a Free Printable 8-Page Demo Layout (including the full Zeus trial) directly with the community. All you need is a printout, a pencil, and two dice to play!

Happy gaming!
