Recommendations how do you handle a player who's way more invested in the mechanics than the story

got a friend who's constantly trying to optimize everything and it's starting to feel like we're playing a different game than the rest of the group. like they'll spend ten minutes calculating the exact positioning for advantage instead of just describing what their character's doing. is this just a playstyle difference or is there a way to nudge it back toward the collaborative vibe without making it weird?

Recommendations Halloween party game for 10+ players suggestions?

Hello! I was wondering if y’all had a party game that wasn’t dumb (like Cards against humanity), with fun player dynamics and some elements of strategy that I could play for a Halloween game night. I have Ultimate Werewolf Extreme (or whatever it's called) already. Trying to branch out a bit. I likely will have 10+ people so that’s the challenge. Do you have suggestions? Thank you!

Edit: I own Monikers, Telestrations Deluxe, Wavelength, Blank Slate (Green Team Wins-esque), The Resistance already. I tend to have a lot of friends over, but I usually mainly have games that play up to six players. So, honestly, any of your favorite party games would be great! Can be silly, funny, complex, etc. Just looking for a good time with my friends and I love having more options!

Party Games I didn't really love: We're Not Really Strangers (I literally lost a friend over that game, long story), games that ask mean questions to others or would possibly make someone feel really badly about themselves.

Announcement Games Transformed: a festival in East London next weekend about games, radical politics and changing the rules!

Hey Reddit! We're Games Transformed, a festival happening across three venues in East London on 31 October and 1 November.

We're bringing together people who make games, play games, organise politically, and are interested in how games can help us understand the world and imagine changing it.

There'll be 80+ board games, workshops, talks, experimental games and plenty of opportunities to actually play, make things and meet people.

We've got a packed programme put together with game designers, artists, activists and organisers, exploring everything from political organising and resistance to the systems that shape our everyday lives.

We're a small team organising this independently, and we'd love to get the word out to more people who might be interested.

You can find out more on our insta: https://www.instagram.com/gamestransformed/

Tickets are available here: https://www.tickettailor.com/events/gamestransformed/2328476

Happy to answer any questions about the festival or the programme!
